View Full Version : Are new G17 sights adjusted out of the box?

I'm a newbie and recently bought a G17 with the factory adjustable sites. I took the NRA pistol safety class but didn't get to spend much time shooting.
I spent some time at the range the other day and am wondering about the sites. Are they adjusted correctly from the factory? I fear that I'm learning to shoot on a gun that isn't right and developing bad habits. Or are the sites supposed to be adjusted to each individual shooting style?
Thanks,
Jerry
Well mine came "sighted in" although it does have fixed sights, not those adjustable ones. When i took it to the range that first time wherever i pointed it fired pretty dead on.

At first my shots were in the 7 o'clock area. I firmed up my grip and paid closer attention to how I was squeezing the trigger. My shots moved to the 6 o'clock. It seemed like I had to cover the target with my front site to get close to the bullseye. That doesn't seem right to me. But then again, I don't know what I'm doing. :)
I'm tempted to raise the rear sight but I don't want to mess it up if it's already dead on.
