View Full Version : So I got an AK for Christmas.. what can I do with it ?? Berretta9 12-27-2005, 07:19 What kind of accessories can you buy ? Which are best ?? dglockster 12-27-2005, 08:23 Tell us what make of AK you got. Does it have a threaded barrel? Does it have a bayonet lug? What type of "furniture" does it have? What accessories came with the rifle? Also, go to http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/index.shtml for very good information on the AK style rife. The bias is toward the Romanian AK but the the basics apply to almost any AK style rifle. Berretta9 12-27-2005, 09:02 It is the Romanian Wasr AK. I'd have to look to see if it had the threaded barrel or bayonet lug. As far as furniture goes, I assume that means the crappy wood on it . It look like it could use a good finish or something. It would appear they are fairly popular rifles. dglockster 12-27-2005, 18:46 Now we know the rifle, go here: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/index.shtml and read about your particular rifle. You can change the wood or exchange it for plastic. You can add a side folding stock or a bottom folder. If the barrel is not threaded, you can thread it - usually with LH 14X1 threads for authenticity. Threading will let you add a slant brake or flash suppressor. If there is no bayonet lug you can add one. In other words, you can customize the rifle to your heart's content. Out of the box the woodwork is a little rough. Accessories:www.k-var.com, www.tapco.com) Buffer (http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/ind...products_id=180) Notched safety lever to hold bolt open (http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/ind...products_id=202) Not really. The buffer softens the recoil somewhat and according to some, prolongs the life of the rifle by reducing the battering it reaceives. The notched safety lever comes in handy when a range requires that all bolts be locked open during a cease fire. Using the lever is a manual operation and does not occur automatically after the last round is fired as with pistols.
