I just picked one of these up a little while back. I have about 500 rounds through it. Great gun!

Yes, I like mine. Hogue finger groove grips are great. :)

I like my GP100, too. It was the gun that caught my eye many years ago and gave me the itch to buy a "modern" handgun. I like the Hogue grips on mine for shooting, but it sure looks sweet with the rosewood. I have before and after pics on my website, here: http://users.adelphia.net/~navy87guy/gp100.html
That SA trigger sure is smooth compared to my autos!

Great buy! I've been comtemplating a GP100 for a good while now.
for under 20 bucks you can get a wolf spring kit and change the trigger return and hammer spring to lighter springs.makes a big,BIG difference.

should be on everyones must have list!
1) Remington 870
2) Ruger 10/22
3) Kimber,Springfield,Colt,S&W, 1911 ( not necessarily in that order, wait, yes, in that order.)
4) Ruger GP100
5) Glock 18
Took my 12yr old nephew to the range today. He shot my GP with wadcutters older than him. He kept most shots on target. I don't know who's grin was bigger, his or mine!;f
Sweet wheel gun!Now order up some Wolff springs for it to give it nice trigger job.Cheap and easy to install.

ive owned about 7 of the exact same gun, my favourite revolver! the last one i had didnt impress me however had indexing problems so i had to send it back, aside from that one all the others were exceptional my favourite aftermarket grips where uncle mikes i did like hogue but the uncle mikes i found a bit more practical, pachmayar make a good grip for em too. Taken lotsa game with the GP100 too, there a very popular model here in Australia after 2003 4" revolvers where the shortest revolvers people with general licenses could own
ill post some pics of mine

I agree. They are nice to look at as well. I used mine in my avatar. I originally got it so my girlfriend could keep it on her side of the room, but I find myself shooting it more often than her.

When you purchase this kit does it come with a how to guide? Do they have a step by step on their website? This sounds like a great idea. After a hundred rounds, my trigger finger sure is sore.
The GP100 is indeed a great sixgun. My early 1990's 4-inch heavy barreled adjustable-sight GP100, the Old Warrior, has a lighter trigger return spring but a stock mainspring because I was getting failures to ignite primers with the lighter mainspring. Being a duty weapon at the time, lights strikes were not good. My 2002 4-inch with fixed sights and lighter barrel has its stock springs, and I see no need to make any changes; the parts move smoothly as is. I like the way full-power trigger-return spring resets the trigger quickly, and actually plan to restore my older GP100 to spec. I have noticed that newer GP100 sixguns usually have quite good triggers, and my newer one became much sweeter with a little dry and live fire.

The hammer spring will be easy. put your hammer strut/spring in a sandwich bag(to keep from loosing your spring!). Remove the dissasembly pin, change springs, replace pin, put back in gun.The trigger return I am not sure, I haven't torn mine down for awhile so I don't remember. Look at the parts breakdown in your manual, that should tell you how they go. It should be an easy swap. Just heed what Rex said about light primer hits. If you change springs, shoot it to make sure it is reliable.

I'm actually thinking of ordering the smaller version of the GP100 but might go with this one instead depending on feedback.
Can you tell us what you paid for it new? I only have the Ruger catalog to go on and I'm not sure what the gunshop price would be as I heard on this forum it might be cheaper than list price. Dumb question I know but I was just wondering.
Thanks dude

I traded an XD40 for my 6"SS GP100 357, what a sweet and accurate pistol. Now I'm thinking of trading my Glock 22 for a 4" model.

I've had two.One was a plain SS 4".The other was a blued 4" police turn-in with a sweet trigger job and front night sight. Both was fine revolvers.I sold the blued to a friend and he's kept it for prolly 5 years now.He really likes it.

Nice gun. ^c
I'll probably get one soon (a 3" version). I like the grips Ruger is putting on that gun, too.

IMO-The 4" GP100 is the Ultimate .357mag revolver.

Now thats one bold statement!
IMHO, I think you are 100% correct! ;f
A bold statement indeed, but for many of us, for an all-around versatile handgun, a true statement. Another inch or two of barrel will be more ideal ballistically, but more difficult to carry and a little slower to clear leather and requiring more elbow and shoulder articulation on the draw. I am glad that I am able to carry range of handguns, and not just be limited to one, of course, and I am on the lookout for a smooth 5- or 6-inch GP100. (One distributor did commission a run of 5-inchers a few years ago.)
man ilove my 6 inch SS gp 100.its so dog gone acurate.its a must have to be sure.however,my 4 inch model 19-3 is a sweetie.maby its the shorter barrel combined with the slick, smooth trigger action that is soooooooooooo sweet.another must have.the ruger is certainly stronger.

It would be a Remington 870!
If I could only have one handgun, it would be a 4 inch Ruger GP100!
