Hello,
just wanted to know what scope mount to use on the handguards of an AR15 with A1 sights? I want to put some type of open sight(ameriglo, etc) I was looking at the ARMS 39 mount but if anyone has any other ideas that would be great.
Thanks

Actually, I built mine from a few parts.
1. I bought a quad rail handguard, to supply myself with a firm mounting surface.
2. I bought a 3/4" riser to put on the handguard top rail.
3. I installed mid-height 30mm rings on the riser.
4. I mounted an Aimpoint ML2 directly in the middle of the riser, so that the control knob (battery case) was located on the left side of the rifle, to allow for left hand manipulation of the knob, while still held by my right hand mounted and shouldered. I used both scope rings, because they were thin. The rings firmly hold the Aimpoint in place in that configuration.
Result: I have a detachable, firmly mounted Aimpoint on a scout rail configuration, that offset cowitnesses, making the dot appear 3/8" higher than the sight, and allows for both eyes open shooting without the cheek weld, and use of sights through the optic. Beautiful thing!!!
smith enterprises makes a really nice one for a decent price. i think brownell's has them. good luck!
