View Full Version : Whose springs for Kimber Pro CDP ll?
I need to buy a couple of recoil springs for my 4" Kimber. The manual specs 22# for these. While I'm ordering I'll probably also get a 23# mainspring and a HD firing pin spring just to have around.
Does anybody have any thoughts about who to order from?
Thanks,
Oak
Go to gunsprings.com ... that is Wolff springs. You can either get a full diameter Officer's spring at 22# or Wolff now makes a special spring for the 4" Kimbers that give a little more life than the Officer's spring.
Why do you want to go to a stronger spring?
I just replaced mine from Kimber spring tune up kit for my Compact SS. I heard people said "if it's not comes from factory, you may have to cut it fit". Since I'm not realy good at fitting gun parts, I try to stay with factory "drop in" replacement parts if I can.
Mag springs is different thou. All my mag spring comes from Wolff.
I don't want to go to a stronger spring. The above numbers are right out of the Kimber owners manual. I will check out the Wolff site, but I will also look at Kimber's site. I don't want to have to cut coils off or do any fitting. My CDP runs like a clock and I really would like to keep that reliability.
Thanks for all replies,
Oak
Kimber uses Wolff springs. I've never had to cut a Wolff spring. The same isn't true for Wilson or ISMI springs.
BTW, on a 4" Kimber, the recoil spring should be replaced between 800 and 1100 rounds depending on the ammo you are shooting. With full power 230 gr., FMJ, your recoil spring should be replaced at 800 - 900 rounds. Your mainspring (sorry I thought you meant a 23# recoil spring) is good for well over 5000 rounds.
I guess I'll go ahead and place an order with Wolff today or tomorrow.
Thanks,
Oak
