I'm fairly new to this as I have never had to do handgun "break in" (every service issue is used) and I have never had to buy ammo when I fire my handgun (ammo issued). So...
I bought a brand new P99 and I was told that it's best to use copper rounds to "break in" the handgun and try to avoid lead. I have shot WWB but I recently purchased a Remington UMC JHP...I see that the inside is lead...would this still be OK???
Also, If you guys could recommend an ammo for "break in"...it'd be much appreciated...:)
Yes, that is fine, lead shavings are the worry and there should be none with a jacket. Any quality factory load should be fine, many companies recommend higher grain slugs for break in. Likely you won’t really need a break in period on a P99, out of four P99's only jam I ever got was in the first ten rounds on one. Still it does not hurt to smooth out the metal to metal contact area through "break in". I would just say stay away from +P's on the first 200 rounds as you want the metal to metal contact to wear slowly like it was hit with fine steel wool, I can see the extra "bang" in a +P having more chance to cause metal to metal areas to stutter or gouge if there is a bit of a bur.

I had some FTE problems with my Sig P228 when I first bought it. Someone recommended that I use a heavier bullet (124 gr vs. 115 gr) for the first few hundred rounds to get all the pieces moving together. I did that and haven't had a single problem since.
On the other hand, all my other guns were broken in with WWB 115 gr straight from Wally World. And no problems with them, either.
If you use 115 gr and see any problems, try switching to something a little heavier and see if that helps.
BTW, you're going to love the Walther! I liked mine so much that I just ordered my wife a P99 Compact for herself!
