View Full Version : New Kimber
Well I just picked up a new Kimber Custom II today. First 1911 I have had in a very long time. Since being issued one a million years ago in the military actually. Oh well, it was about time. I had been renting one at the range each time I go for a while now and finally said to heck with it and added one to my collection. I was only able to shoot 50 rounds today but it shoots very nicely. Pretty darn accurate too!
So now I guess I can quit lurking and be more of a participant in this forum since I finally own a 1911. LOL

Great gun, I really enjoy mine, I've got a .38 Super and it's fun to shoot.
Enjoy.

be safe, shoot well.

Does it have the external or internal extractor? Rumor has it that Kimber is in the process of going back to all internal extractors. I think they should just approach S&W and buy their design.

Congratulations habu and welcome to the model 1911 club. ;?
I'm a Kimber fan too. They build a really nice 1911 for a good price. I agree with you too that they also build a pretty darn accurate pistol.

habu,
I forgot to say congrats also. I do miss my Kimber but I replaced it with a Baer so that's not so bad. It's mandatory that post pics if no one told you :)
Thanks to all for the welcome to the 1911 forum. I guess I need to dig out my digital camera and take a photo or two. This one has an internal extractor so from what I have been reading that is a good thing. For the last 2 - 3 months I had been regularly renting a kimber with the external extractor and had no problems with it.
I picked up a couple of Wilson Combat magazines tonight. I just had to go to the range and shoot it again. Yep, it is easy to get addicted to the feel of a 1911 again. I definitely like the way it shoots although the trigger is a bit firm. I also think I may switch out the stock sights for something a bit more visible in low light. Any recommendations on the sights will be welcome. I could do a search, but it is more fun to read the responses here. LOL
Thanks again!

I'm happy with the Meprolight night sights that Kimber uses especially for carry. The front blade is a bit wider some others and that makes it easy to pick up quickly. I also like that the tritium vial is a bit bigger around than the night sights on my Baers.
next to the 45 acp the 38 super is the way to go in 1911 chamberings.man its sweet.
I've heard the 38 super is a nice round but I'm not sure I need to add another caliber to what I have. I have a Marlin Model 60 and a Walther G22 in 22LR, a 308 Magnum (for hunting out west), and handguns in 9mm, .40 and 45ACP.

I just bought a Kimber my self, a TLE II and love it. About 200 rounds thru it now. Very accurate hits where I point it. I am also glad to have the internal extractor.
I went to the range again yesterday. I really like the way this Kimber shoots. My Glock 23 and Walther 9mm both shoot great and are accurate but this is even more accurate. As long as I do my part it is pretty good at making one ragged hole with 5 rounds. Granted I am only shooting at about 8 meters but I will take it.
