View Full Version : Cleaning diamond plate.
Anybody got any relatively easy ways for cleaning diamond plate? We just got a hand me down engine that needs some cleaning up. There's gunk built up in corners and such. I'd like to get it spiffed up a bit but don't really want to spend thousands of hours on it.

We used some kind of calcium eating crap from the local hardware store like you'd buy to clean around the house. Worked well.
Flitz it. http://www.flitz.com/ Can be found at most autoparts store. Worked for our 72 International minipumper.

Dawn dishwashing soap, hot water, and hard bristle scrub brush works very well.
I'll have to give some of these a try. We're getting a bunch of FNG's very soon.;e
Unfortunately it'll have to wait for an undisclosed amount of time. Last week the engine that I want to clean up was used for some spontanious off roading. Fortunately nobody was hurt and the damage so far appears to be minor. I heard it took our shop guys 6 hours to get all the mud off of the undercarriage. It's been very rainy here of late and the pictures show the engine buried in mud up to the running boards.
Flitz is good stuff. Use FNG's or if you know a judge, ask to get the underage drinker who puked all over your buss for his community service.
