I' m not too knowledgeable of this gun even though I was around them in the Army. The trigger does not have to go all the way forward till you hear it reset in order to fire again. The gun is made by Israel & looks to be shot very little. Trigger a disconnect look to be OK, HELP!!!!! PLEASE & THANKS

Sounds like either there was some work done (or grit built up) on the sear that's keeping it from interfacing with the hammer properly.
Is the whole fire control group clean and unlubed?
Have you tried function-checking it unloaded? Does the hammer follow the bolt down?
Is the firing pin and its channel clean and unlubed? Is there anything in there keeping the FP from rebounding from the last primer hit? One blown primer can add enough metal to the channel to do this very thing.
Cleaning out the FCG and the FP/channel is where I'd start. If nothing has been altered then it's likely fouling causing this.
BTW, the BATFE doesn't care at all WHY your carbine is an automatic, only that it currently is. DON'T fire it again until you fix it or a gunsmith gets to take a look at it.
Good luck, and be safe!

My uncles M1 only does that when the selector switch is in the full auto position.

That makes it and M2 carbine.
Any chance that you have a firing pin problem causing it to stick forward and slam fire? I've had that problem on other semi-autos before but don't know if the M1 carbine is subject to this.

I've seen it on a very dirty carbine. It was due to a sticking firing pin, hence a slam fire.
Try a complete cleaning with a good solvent, if necessary, a complete tear down & soak everything metal in a Safety-Klean tank.
If it still does it after this, something's either broken or at least badly worn.
I'm not aware of an Israeli made copy of the carbine, but there HAVE been some poorly made copies produced.

Maybe an Israel Arms m888? I think they were remanufactured in Houston, TX. The website is gone.
