Well, I usually don't post over here, i really have not had a reason to until now.. I hope y'all will give me some good response! ;)

I am "de-glocking," things around here pretty much, BUT, i have ran into a decision, and i ain't sure what trail to take.

I am trying to decide between a Kimber Ultra Carry II.
A Springfield Armory Micro Compact.
OR, the Glock 36.

I have owned Colts, in 1911, and that is it. I know absolutley notta, about 'these three.' I really like the "first two" mentioned, and recoil and all that is no problem.... What i am looking for, is "reliability."

I realize there is a 'break in period,' with most all 1911's, BUT, i here all this 'rant' about Kimbers being lousy, and problematic, (no flames here), i am only stating my position in the decision!

Also, i am not so sure about the Springfield Armory either.

Bottom line here... The "ONLY," models i am interested in the 'reliability of, and functionality,' etc, are the "Micro Compact SA," and the "Ultra carry II," Kimber.... Anyone with "These guns" please talk to me here.

As for the G36, i would like to here thoughts on it as well, although it is not the 1911... I want to make a purchase 'this coming weekend,' but don't want to waste $900.00 approx. ;f

Pro's, con's, problems, likes, dislikes, why, etc...

Guys, i would sure appreciate it!

My experience has been with a Kimber Ultra Carry Series I and a Glock 36 with IWB carry. Before any 3" 1911 bashing gets going, my Ultra Carry has been 100% from day one. I have found it to be very accurate too. If yours has been a lemon, sorry.

That having been said, both models are good for CCW in my opinion. The Kimber fits my hand better, and its the more accurate of the two. I have a Brommeland holster for the Kimber, and the holster makes the Kimber real easy to carry concealed. I did purchase two Wilson Combat Officers model magazine for the pistol.

I carry the G36 in a Sidearmor IWB, and its easy to carry and conceal. Its pretty accurate also.

If you can I would try and shoot them both before purchasing. Its most likely going to come down to personal preference. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

My 2 cents,

RD

Well Road Dog, i appreciate the reply. As i said, i am interested in the UC II Stainless, good to know yours has served well. What is the difference between the series I, and the sereies II ?

Also, do you, or anyone else here know if it makes a big difference about the extractor being enternal or external? I know the 'word on the web', FTIW, says the EE is a piece of junk.. I don't know!

Thanks man.

The Series 1 has no "Schwartz" style safety, and it has the internal extractor.

As with you I have also heard of the external extractor problems here on the web. That could be something Kimber/S&W or whoever made has fixed.

IMHO, I would probably choose the Glock 36. While i love 1911's, the G36 should be more reliable and will give you a higher velocity(something that a short barrel .45ACP really needs).

Between the Kimber and SA, I would choose the SA. The Micro SA's that I have seen are of really good quality.

well, i talked to a friend of mine today, who can get me a major discount,on a new glock of any kind, so with that on the table, it is real tempting to go G36. But, i truly love the 1911's and the Kimber UC II Stainless, seems to me the cat's meow so far as all my research and phone calls today. I admit,it isa very hard choice between the SA and the Kimber, i tend to flop back and forth, but Kimber is holding the lead so far.. ;)

Thanks all, i am still open for more informatio here, as i an going to make the purchase saturday....

Thanks RD, i found out today from Kimber, ALL but three full size 1911's are 'now' being shipped with the 'Internal Extractor' from now on.

spober,

is it the UCII ? The UCII stainless is the one i am looking at.
Let me quiz you a little here. Is it the internal, or external extractor? How many rounds you got through it, and how well has it functioned for ya? FTF etc, ?

I'd appreciate it man

Thanks

I love 1911's but am sorely tempted by the G36.

I would have to have the Glock
