G27 Recoil Spring Failure

Hey here are some pics of my friends G27 Recoil Spring that sheared off one of the spring skirts.

The piece that sheared off got stuck between the large and small spring assembly and wouldnt allow the slide to completely close causing a misfire condition.

He paid the Glockmeister $45 for a new stainless spring assembly.

I figured something like this would be covered under some sort of defect warrantee.

Had he called Glock in Smyrna, they would have sent him a free replacement.

yea - but it was a glockmeister part to begin with - well half factory glock half glockmeister.

he still has the broken part - i wonder what would be the best thing to do with it. send it back to glock or call another ammorer?

I am suprised that there have been no responses to this.
Has anyone else seen this same type of failure? Or is this a one in a million failure due to a bad casting?
