I had my Dawsons installed at the local gunsmith, my ? is the rear sight is not lined up perfectly with the slide. But when I take a sight picture with the gun at rest they line up perfect with front post and I took it to the range to sight it in and they were perfect out of the box was able to eat the bulleye at a rest at ten yards. What Im getting at is was that the way he had to set them up on the gun to get them to align correctly with the front sight and is it something I should worry about? It just seems that rear sight should line up even with the slide in my mind?
Thanks for the help!

Brent, I had some problems with this also with Dawson adjustable. At first I took it to a Glock Armorer to install. The sight was too tight for the dovetail, but he whacked it on anyway. This caused the sight to not be centered in the dovetail, but what was worse, the left side of the sight blade ended up higher than the right (it was not lying flat in the dovetail). Tried it at the range and my accuracy went to hell. Then took it to another gunsmith who used a dremel on the sight to get it to fit better, and the sight fell out on me the next day at a meet. He also but so much loctite on the set screws, I couldn't get the sight to open up. After these two fiascos, I sent my slide and sight to Dawson for mounting, so I don't have another repeat. Haven't gotton it back yet, as they only received it last Tuesday.
In the future, I am going to get a sight pusher & file(if needed) and do the job myself.

I figured the rear is like .003 over to right, which is afew hairs diff. Also if he would of lined it up even with the slide I would have had to adjust to right to get them even with the front post. So it just saved me some time on not having to adjust. All in all the rear wouldnt have looked even either way after I would had to adjust to get them line up correctly. If they were on wrong thier is no way I would beable to shot the bulleye as good as I did!

Sounds more like you took it to some "sahde tree mechanic". I put Dawsons on 3 of my Glocks myself without any problem and I sure didn't whack them on I used a sight pusher and there was nothing to it. Great sights.

Don, A shade tree mechanic probably would have done better than the two gunsmiths I encountered. Gunsmith #1 was part owner in the shop he operated from, and Gunsmith #2 was the owner of his shop. The lessons learned here is caveat emptor and don't under estimate your own abilities to do a job like this yourself.
