I have a new G21 and ordered a Ext slide stop. Now I know when you remove the pins its from left to right but when you reinstall is it from right to left???
Thanks in advance

If that is all you are going to do is replace the slide stop. all you have to do is push the trigger pin in maybe a quater inch. remove the old slide stop and replace the new stop and push the pin back in. there is no need to take the pin all the way out.

The only pin that requires directionality in removal or reinsertion is the trigger pin.

That is a new one on me. every book that I have read says that all pins are removed for left to right. Installed right to left.

I've often seen the same language but I agree with Gary. I can find no reason why it would matter. My theory (admitted guess) as to why it's referenced this way is to create a standard method of sorts to keep things as simple as possible throughout similar applications.

That's because a lot guns have tapered pins and they can only come out one way - unless you were referring to glock books, specifically.
The pins in the glock are cylindrical.
The trigger pin has a groove on either end of it for capturing the slide stop lever. If you remove the trigger pin right to left there is a good chance the other groove will catch the slide stop lever on the way out. To avoid the hassle of that, remove it left to right.
Also, it is easier for people to remember the 'correct way' if there is only one way being taught.
