My friend wants to replace his butt stock with a longer thump hole stock. It's a WASR Ak47. Is the wood jammed into the rear trunion or is it just hard to get out. So far we got two screws out and the pistol grip off. How do you get the old butt off???
O.K.:
1-Remove (2) screws holding the buttstock to the rear trunnion
2-Look on top of the rear trunnion and you will see a hole machined into it.
3-Take a large blade screwdriver and insert it into hole and pry the buttstock off.
It'll be hard but it will come out.
Good luck.

Thanks, I didn't want to tear into it and screw it up. The stock looked like it was jamed into the rear trunion.
I prefer to use a wood rod and rubber mallet and pound it out through the trunion if you can. You may have to remove your FCG and fold back the rear sight to do this. It also helps to use a penetrating oil/lubricant and have the rifle secured in a gun vise. I have had good results using Tuf-Glide. Often the stock will come flying out after a few hits. Be careful if you try to pry it out. I snapped the tip off a screwdriver while trying to pry out an AK stock.

Like c133jim says remove Two screws and I have had good luck with a rubber mallet, whacking it from one side and then the other.Do it over carpet and not in the garage like I first did.My stock flew off, bounced off the floor and chipped the end.
P.S. I wasn't going to keep the stock anyway.
