Anyone know of a relatively successful swap with a .45 1911 to a 10mm? Slide, barrel, extractor, ejector part swap for sure. Any problems with a ramped vs non-ramped barrel? I heard something somewhere about the ramping not matching up to the barrel within the frame- might not work with bullets smaller than .45 diam. Any other issues (mag switch obvious)?
I was thinking of doing a single stack .45 to 10mm instead of Para P16. I have been lurking on gunbroker.com and all the P16s seem to be $600+. Kinda pricey to start off with. I plan on doing the basic spring swap, FP stop, but getting a barrel chambered in 10mm and selling the other to offset the cost some.
I was thinking of doing something like a Charles Daly or some kind of similar priced .45 to start with. Not an extreme like RIA or High Standard. My dealer has a RIA in stock for $385. Seems pricey for a RIA.
I just got my Carbon Creations catalog for grips and drooled over the Caspian commander with Damascus slide.;P ;P
