I have an older Uniden handheld scanner that has 100 channel capability. I am by no means an expert but I am looking to purchase a newer model. I will probably go with another handheld since I use this one when the power is out (although I have considered a base unit). I mostly listen to police, fire, EMT, etc. Since I am a neophite at this I am debaiting whether I need a digital model which adds to the price. I have been looking at the Uniden BC246T. Also, can someone explain in simple terms about Trunk Tracking.
Thanks
It depends on the type of communications that your area uses, alot of places are using digital modes for radio, some still use regular ol' type in the freq. and listen, you would have to find out if it is "trunked" or not, meaning digital. Trunked is a little more complicated and expensive, but not too bad, we are trunked here, I use a Uniden Bearcat TrunktrackerIII BC785D. Someone more knowledgeable should be along shortly, that can explain it clearer, Im not too good at it.
