is it true that ak's and other russian clones all really have .311 bores, and so is all the milsurp ammo, while american made or company made ammo and rifles have atrue .308 bore, and so also is the dia of their ammo? i ask this because i just bought a cz in 762x39, which i think has the .311 bore, and if it is more accurate with milsurp ammo i would like to know. also if this ammo is too tough for the better chamber/throat of a fine cz rifle.
yes the ak does have a .311 bore. yes us standard is .308
The standard projectile diameter for the 7.62X39 is .309". Almost all Russian and U.S. made ammunition feature the .309" diameter projectile. Some Wolf HP ammo is .308". Lapua is .310".
The AK bore varies slightly from country to country, but it's normally in the .309 - .3095" arena on a new barrel. A well worn bore may open up to .312" or more.
The bore on your CZ should be around .309" and will handle the majority of surplus/Russian ammunition just fine.
One thing to remember. Just because the box of projectiles say they're .311" doesn't mean they are. Often .312" diameter marked projo's for the 303 British are .310" or smaller. The .310" marked projo's from Winchester, Remington, Speer, Hornady and such are .309" on a quality set of calipers.
