Mossberg 590 barrel on a Mossberg 500..

Will a Mossberg 590 barrel work on a Mossberg 500???

Just wondering..

Cheapest I can find a new 590 is about $400..

I realize there are reciever differences.. like the 590 is steel..

Has anyone done this..??.. parts are about $170 from gun parts...
