Are the VEPR II .308 any good?

Thanks!
If you are looking for a 308 AK, this is your best bet. Receiver is thicker than on Saiga. You are limeted to 10 rounds, though. Robinson Arms has been working on a higher cap mag, but nothing yet.

Yes, I own a Vepr II in .308 It has the famous and tough Kalashnikov reliability. Mine came with a muzzel brake that doesn't seem to work very well. I've only fired hot 168 grain Hornady TAP ammo in it and the recoil that it produces is rather unwelcome. Another shooter at one of the ranges that I belong to, said that he shoots lighter weight bullets, and that solves the recoil problem. Robinson Armament imports the rifles from Molot, a company in Russia That builds AK's. The BATFE and the U.S. customs only allow Molot to import 10 round mags to America. The mag situation is a major problem as Robinson Armament can't seem to produce their own 20 rounders. I've achieved 8/10 inch groups at 100 yards using the Hornady Tap ammo. My HK sniper rifle has much less recoil and shoots far tighter groups than my Vepr, However the value of it has skyrocketed it to the point of making it very impractical to shoot. I might recomend that you buy an M1A, an FAL, or a AR-10 If you want a .308 battle rifle, because of the mag problem with the Vepr II in .308. I would choose a different rifle.
