I have been wanting an S&W 610 w/ 3" barrel for a while now -
well, I didn't find a 3"er, but I got a 4"-er - for $575 !!!
In "Nearly new" condition, as well! Got it off GA, here:

Now, a question:
Does anyone here know if I can put the rounded wooden combat grips on this? As I understand it, the 610 came with a rounded frame butt and a squared frame butt, and of course I'll need the rounded one... also, if this model does NOT have the rounded butt, can it be modified to have one?

Went to the site. That is a beauty. I love the unfluted barrels on Smiths. Have you looked at hogueauction.com. They have a great selection of grips for great prices. I don't know about changing that conversion grip you have though. I personally like it more than the rounded grips.

Couldn't agree with you more - those unfluted barrels are DEAD SEXY! ... I saw a couple of the 6.5"-ers while looking, but 2 out of the 3 I looked at had fluted barrels... besides, I REALLY wanted a snubby...
I'm hoping to be able to carry this thing: camping, and maybe in the winter sometimes as well... that brings me to another questions of holsters - which I'll create a new thread for ;)

Great find! That's a really good price considering what people are asking for them these days. I just wish S&W would have brought out a 610 in Mountain Gun dress.

I can't tell from the photo, but that looks like it's a rounded grip frame. If it is squared, you cannot change it. You can't change a round-butt frame either, but you can buy grips that look the same from the outside. Smith and Wesson is making some pretty nice aftermarket grips right now, so I'd take a look at their stuff if you get in a fix.
