View Full Version : 40 conversion
I thinking of buying a G20, however, would also like to go back and forth between 10mm and S&W .40 cal. What exactly do I need to make the conversion?
regards,
1. a barrel in 40(several manufacturers) that drops into your G20 &
2. some 40 ammo.
Thats it.

Pretty much agree with Akita. Altho some mfgrs. barrels "drop in" more loosely than others.
I ordered a "semi drop-in" from Barsto, where I subsequently needed to send the slide in for their "tweaking". It was the most pricey of any aftermarket barrel that I found (via a thread and search engine here at GT), but is quite accurate - not that a less expensive one by someone such as KKM would not be sufficiently accurate for most of us ...

My G20 functions fine with just a used Federal barrel (just wanted to go cheap to see how it works).
The only gripe I have is that the ejection is very erattic. Sometimes it throws the shells at your arm, hand, head, etc. I've tried a 15lb recoil spring, thinking that would help. Now the shells roll up and over the slide and land on my support hand (I'm a righty). And sometimes the gun fails to chamber a round completely. I would not recommend a lighter spring.
Hotter .40's eject better.
