Opinions on PMC 170gr. JHP

I have a couple boxes of this ammo I received in trade and was wondering what you think of it as a defense load? Thanks

My guess would be it's good range ammo.

PMC 170gn 10mm JHP ...


It's allegedly doing 1200fps/543fpe from a 5" barrel. ;Q Much like Winchester's claimed velocity of 1295fps for its 175gn STHP, however, that's ahh,... a bit optimistic on PMC's part.

Chronograph data in past posts here on the 10Ring suggests that the 170gn PMC's real-world velocity is more like 1100fps-1125fps from a 4.6" G20. For defensive purposes, sure, it's passable. Just be sure to test it sufficiently for accuracy and feed reliability in your gun.
