Given the current situation in California, I have the option to get either right now. Which would you all recommend?

The Sun Devil is $200 and the AMEETEC is $175.

Both?

Ameetec is a fine name in AR's. Buy with confidence.

Is that the cheapest you can get a lower for?

Unfortunately, it is right now. Given that there are only a handful of FFLs willing to accept and do the DROS on them, they are able to inflate the price a bit. It is also to recoup losses they are taking on shipping since these lowers are supposedly having to be overnighted by several different FFLs before getting into CA.

I am trying to see if my local FFL will be willing to get some directly from out of state for me, but doubtful.

Also, I am a bit new to the (EVIL) "BLACK RIFLE CLUB," so please enlighten me to exactly what I will need to buy after I purchase the stripped lower:

1- A complete upper assembly
2- A stock
3- A fixed magazine kit
4- A lower parts kit

Is there anything else that I will need to make the rifle complete/ready to go?

Lower parts kit, upper receiver/barrel assembly, and a buttstock.

Are CA residents allowed to build their own AR receivers? I was just curious if they were only ordering their stripped receivers or if they were also building 80% lower receivers.

So, can you confirm:

1- A stripped lower
2- A lower parts kit
3- An upper (either complete or the receiver/barrel assembly)
4- A buttstock
5- Fixed magazine kit (to comply with CA requirements)

That is it, correct?

With my lower being $200, is it possible to get the rest for $300-$400? If so, can you guys point me somewhere?

I am not looking to go the cheap route, but I would just like to get my feet wet with this since it is all new to me and would prefer to get a more expensive upper down the road.

A LPK and a buttstock will finish your lower half. Go here for those parts.

I'd probably just order a complete upper from here for $475.

Don't know anything about the mag issues for Kalifornia.

Thanks. Anyone else have any suggestions as far as what to build off my lower?

Where are you shooting? How many yards?
do you want a varmit, plinking, target?

If I was only building one, I'd go with a 16" m4 profile with a phantom FH, flattop, standard A2 FSB, BUIS, but depends on your answers above.

ETA: if you are going to go fixed mag, I would not configure as above, but look for an SPR configuration.

JP rifles is your friend. Also note that you can't do anything with them unless you've done a fixed mag kit or they get added to the list and you register it and have the registration letter in hand. If you build it with a fixed mag the very first thing to do before the grip or stock or barrel is to fix the mag in or you've commited a felony.

Thanks, I'll check jprifles. I'm comprehending the legalities of everything, so I won't be breaking any laws anytime soon. That probably would not be too favorable on my part given my chosen profession... lol. Because afterall, "If you can't follow the law, you can't enforce the law."

Wouldn't it be easier to get a letter and buy one or just have them issue you one that we can't get?
