View Full Version : cal .40
Hi, I already got my unit from Squires last Jan.10 but, the 2 mec-gar mags are not included yet at still at the airport di pa raw nari-release. I fired 50rds of FMJ ammo the next day, nanghiram muna ako 2 mags sa Armscor MCS. On the first mag after finished 15 rds, hindi nag-lock ang slide, fired again on the other mags & finished the whole load without any problem. Fired again another 50rds of FMJ the next day still no problem, but I noticed the trigger pull is a bit hard. So, I brought my unit to a gunsmith to adjust trigger to 2.5lbs. Fired again the next day of 50rds of FMJ & still No problem, the trigger is nice. Fired again another 50rds of FMJ the next day, still NO PROBLEM! Finished 200rds of FMJ ammo, nice groupings & NO FTF problem!
Now, I miss my gun!!!
P.S: want to post pics but don't know how to post it!!!
Very nice ^c
THANKS!!I'm planning to change some internal parts on my next vacation by March, thinking to change Main-Spring & STI sear spring. Is it a good idea or any suggestions?
I don't think you need to change those, there's no advantage really, that you can either notice or feel. The mainspring might be noticeable, but changing to a lighter one may cause misfires (primer failure).
Maybe you can get a magwell first. Put some skateboard tape on the front strap and you'll be ready to go.
What grip is that and where did you buy it?
The more I see Armscor pic the more I want to buy one, too bad it's really scarce here in Cali.

Remember, sales staff at Ace Hardware doesn't know skateboard. Say yung parang liha na may pagkit sa likod.;)

Read Bill Wilson's book on the 1911 (it's a pretty old one; in fact the pages are starting to fall off the book ), and according to the section in tuning the 1911., the 1911's mechanism can tolerate mainspring weight reduction from stock up to 60%. He was referring, of course to the .45 caliber at that time (when everbody was still using that caliber in IPSC prior to the .38 Super). Might have a different effect on the .40 S&W.
If you intend to use a lighter mainspring, you might want to use softer primers, too.
Just a background on Bill Wilson:
Their family was in the watch business before he started tinkering with the 1911. Later found out that he could make more with customizing 1911s.
What is MAGWELL? Sorry for the ignorance!
Thanks! When I bought my unit, that is already the grip.
I am still planning to have my gun two tone, do you know a good shop doing this kind of job?
Here's a pic of my magwell. It basically extends/enlarges the hole where the magazine goes in for quicker mag changes.
You're in taguig right, mas malapit kay col. bayang.
Sample pic of a magwell (bottom view).
Now, that is a well. Col. Bayang did that one too?
Thank you for the pics, tama pala iniisip ko as the name implies (magwell). Puede ba yung hindi masyado malapad, yung medyo simple lang? How many days nila ginagawa yan & how much did you pay for yours? I also to change Fiber-optic front sight, ok lang ba rin si col.Bayang ang gumawa? Gusto ko rin sana mabago ang recoil, yun di masyado malakas, ano dapat gawin? DAMI KO GUSTO GAWIN!!!! DI MAPAKALI SA UNIT!!!
