View Full Version : bullets...
this is weird...
before i could find my optimal load for
my gun... i tried different combinations...
1. n320 4.2g 124 conical head (balagbag)
2. n320 4.3g 124 conical head (mas balagbag)
3. n320 4.2g 120 semi wad cutter (good pero low sa chrono)
4. n320 4.3g 120 semi wad cutter (havent tried this, next load ko)
all are copper coated heads...
the question is:
someone gave me 100 rounds of i dont know what load but what i
can say is that the heads look like the 124g conical and is made
of lead (no coating)
the recoil feels like the n320 4.2g that i have been using.
but it stinks much much much more than what im used to.
it smells like teflon
the bullets made perfectly round holes in my target...
i dont get it... the copper coated ones should be more accurate
but in my case, not... what could be the cause? with the smell...
is it with the powder or the head?
thanks!

the copper coated heads from pb are no good. stick with teflon or fmj.
the copper plating peels off and is dirtier than plain lead. try the heads mario cardenas sells. the plating is thick and is almost as good as fmj heads
I have tried PB's and Stronghand's copper coated bullets in 9mm and they leave much to be desired in the accuracy department. They also lead the barrel worse than lead bullets in my Glocks.
Doc EC is right. Stick with the teflon or fmj bullets.
Haven't tried though the coated bullets of which 9mx uses and swears by since it does not lead and performs like an fmj.

those are the same heads we use. we get it from mario cardenas, the RO. i got 1000 pcs each for 9mx and casmot yesterday. weight is 128-130 gr, i think. even the .40 heads are ok.
doc, how much is a pc?
do u think papayag sila sa range na i buy from
mario cardenas? and have them load it?
lead has been my problem... ive been cleaning
at least an 1hr everytime i go to the range
scrubbing the barrel takes forever...
the rifling at the end of the barrel
completely vanishes after 100 rounds!
hehehe!
can anyone pls post his contact details...
thanks!

Why, is it unhealthy to use teflon coated heads? Think lead is, specially in indoorranges.

The bullets we use is not real teflon. Otherwise, it would be very, very expensive.
I think they coat the bullets with a paint which has some teflon component and call them teflon bullets.
thanks doc! will contact him asap!
just ordered 1000 heads!
hahaha! sana ndi na balagbag and malinis sa barrel!

Still, what made this teflon/paint coated bullets unhealthy?

Probably pong thinks it's unhealthy because of teflon's bad smell when fired. Definitely, teflon heads are better than plain lead healthwise. :)
hehehe! the reason why i dont like using it: the smell
it is terrible!!!
i couldnt stop coughing whenever i use teflon coated bullets...
(m always shooting indoors :))
Speaking of teflon, wala bang health consequences yun for someone with asthma? I've stopped using teflon for the mean time kasi super baho, I'm always coughing hard when using teflon...
this is not to alarm anyone , just think that by just simply walking on the streets say EDSA there are lots of nasty stuff that can get into your lungs from vehicles exhaust emmisions.
Teflon - Synonyms: PTFE, polytetrafluoroethylene, poly(ethylene tetrafluoride), tetrafluoroethylene polymer, tetrafluoroethylene homopolymer, tetrafluoroethylene-perfloro(propyl vinyl ether) copolymer.
teflon is a widely use product in many industry
Cook wares,pipe sealant,paints, lubricants etc.
In pure form powder or resin here's the health hazard.
Teflon inhalation can cause POLYMER FUME FEVER (temporary flu-like illness with fever, chills and sometimes cough for approximately 24 hours )IF GOTTEN ONTO TOBACCO PRODUCTS WHILE SMOKING. DO NOT SMOKE WHILE USING THIS MATERIAL
Teflon can also cause skin and eye irritation.
on large doses or over exposure it can also cause hemorrhage of the lung.
Carinogecity - non of he components are listed as a carcinogen
NOT LIKELY UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS OF USE. IF USING IN HIGH TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS WHERE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION IS LIKELY, USE A LOCAL EXHAUST TO REMOVE FUMES. IF DIZZINESS OR IRRITATION OCCURS, SEEK FRESH AIR.
Hey this is in pure form, we need not to worry cuz most teflon out there are mixed or compounded with other stuff that makes it less toxic or non lethal.
for us gun nuts , powder breathing dragons who use teflon coated rounds
just shoot in a well ventilated area( most competitions are outdoors anyway)
For in door ranges, the range should be equipt with an adequate ventilation facility.
and syempre as a rule of thumb use proper protective equipments, wash hands or shower after shooting and wash your range clothes separately..
