View Full Version : Help building an AR
I need advice on building a 16" A4 mid-length AR. How are Rock River Arms uppers? Are there any other makers of complete uppers in this configuration worth looking at?
For the lower parts should I get a DPMS or a RRA parts kit? Thanks! :)
IMHO RRA is great. Either parts kit is fine as well.... but why not get a RRA receiver and make it an all RRA rifle? It will probably be worth more if you ever need to sell it.
Check out www.ar15.com. lots of good advice and good industry sources for part e.g. www.adcofirearms.com for RRA uppers.

All the things you mentioned are fine and should serve you well.
Thank you joker1 and GoreLicks for the advice and leads. Initially I wanted an all matching build if only because it increases the personal value to me. Unfortunately I already have a lower and the maker does not appear to be in the business of mid-barrel uppers.
I read extensively here and on ar15.com, and even though I feel overwhelmed by the amount of information, the build I want is pretty simple. Flat-top with a 16" mid-barrel, Troy BUIS, M4 stock, A2 flash hider and grip. All control surfaces standard. I know there are alot better aftermarket parts available but I was after the "feel" of a gov't model, yet in the configuration of my choosing. :)
Nothing wrong with simple. Sometimes less is more.:)
