(Enjoy some lousy smartphone camera pics!)
I got my first AR, a S&W MP-15 Sport, a little less than a year ago to get into the AR game.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hzUPUlZxF1A/T1PDpxpUobI/AAAAAAAAAOo/Q63cYMPAg34/s640/IMAG0028.jpg
I started customizing pretty quickly and had MOE'd it up in no time.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dwdBUGhfUxo/T1PDp_RKybI/AAAAAAAAAOk/SuO_bgbaOW0/s640/IMAG0051.jpg
I realized quickly the benefits of a mid-length gas system over a carbine-length gas system. Also, I was interested in the option to completely flatten the upper plane of the rifle for optics. I didn't want (and still don't want) a mile of continuous rail, and I like the MOE handguard for its light weight and comfort. So the order was placed, and in addition to a new ACS-L stock, I have what I consider the perfect carbine for my uses...for now.

I don't have the resources at my disposal to do barrel work, so I just got a completely new upper (minus the BCG, charging handle, and Magpul flip-up rear sight imported from the MOE'd up Sport). It's a custom job from Del-Ton. It includes the dust cover and foward assist missing from the MP-15 Sport. (Well, not "missing". Just not included on the Sport upper. I see them as nice to have here but certainly not necessary for my needs.) The flip-up front sight gas block and the Phantom flash hider are both Yankee Hill. On the lower, I swapped the MOE pistol grip for the MIAD to bulk up the backstrap (It's more like gripping a familiar friend - the beer can.) and to use the thumb shelf (mainly aesthetic). I added a Magpul ASAP, too. I'll have a chance to shoot it next weekend, but it looks great! Optic-ready when I am (when I'm proficient with the iron sights)! I'll put together a lower receiver some day to have two complete rifles with what I have now.

Nice!
Got an offer I couldn't refuse, and sold my Sport. Lol, miss it already. I kept the carbine length, but changed the upper receiver itself to get the forward assist & dust door. Bet that thing's a sweet shooter with the middy upper huh?

I have been thinking about getting a mid length barrel and gas system. I have all the tools to change out a barrel.

Noveske N4 Light Recce Basic on a Spike's lower. Huge thanks to Delta Three Tactical (delta3tactical.com). I called looking for a complete Spike's AR, and the next thing I knew, he had me hooked up with a Noveske. Superb customer service -- called me just to tell me it was shipping and to thank me for my business.

Wow that is a bit heavy. Mine came in at 9lb 13oz with can on..
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh186/nateholl3/LMTonscale.jpg
11.7 lbs = 187.2 oz
RRA Half Quad Full Rail Handguard - 21.3 oz
SWFA SS 5-20x50 - 30.4 (Doesn't include throw lever, sun shade, caps, etc)
BOBRO QD mount - 7.5 oz.
Bipod - 9.5 oz
Magpul CTR Stock - 8.8 oz
That totals to 77.5 oz right there.
It all adds up I guess.

It fits great. I have not taken it out to shoot it yet. I figured since I was going to do another stamp why not get a can that will work with 5.56, 22LR, 308, 7.62x39 and 300 Blackout? 6 months is a long wait so I though make the best of the purchase. I've only read good things about the SDN-6. I actually read it was quieter than the M4-2000 for the 5.56 round. We'll see..

I've heard the same things. The extra space in the baffle stack seems to make up for the more open bore in the can. I've been looking at it as a multi-caliber can, as well, even to the point of one day using it on a .308 bolt action.

Pinned and welded. I am waiting on the barrel right now. I have the reproduction moderator and gas ring already. The receivers are on order from NODAK SPUD as is the 2-pos buffer tube and CH. The Colt aluminum stock is coming from Alaska and the reproduction castle nut is coming from CA.

I like it, I think the short setup and the camo works very well on that AR. The 1911 looks like a nice compliment as well.
What is the barrel length on that AR?
Sorry I missed this!!
It's a 10.5" LWRC Upper on a POF GEN III Lower

It's a Nikon 1-4x. I believe as a general rule the objective lens gets larger based on the amount of magnifaction of the scope. But I may not be 100% correct in that
this is an official placeholder for my next build if i can pull it off.
the idea is to do my first build from the ground up. not just slapping an upper and lower together like my previous ebr's but starting with a stripped lower and going from there. now here's the twist.....this is going to be my actual zombie gun. not in the typical gun world "zombie gun" sense, i mean this one is going to be completely and totally literally zombie themed!
and it all started with a magazine article that showed me this little gem.
http://www.eotech-inc.com/products/sights/xps2Zombie
if eotech is jumping on the z-wagon then so am i. lol

The eye piece is a fixed size depending on the brand and model. The objective end gets larger or smaller depending on what is needed or wanted from the scope. If you want a compact scope then you get a smaller objective lens. If you want maximum light gathering for low light hunting then you want a larger objective end.
Most low power variables have smaller objective lens to keep the weight down.

Not really. A lot of higher magnification scopes have larger objectives for hunting in low light but its not necessariliy tied together. Takes Nightforces compact 2.5-10x24 mm scope.

Will do. It'll be a slow process as funds continue to come in, especially since I have a few other upgrades and changes to make in the process.
Semi-recent photo, but the Scout now resides on a cut-down rail at the 3 o'clock position.

Planned changes/upgrades currently include BCM BCG and Gunfighter grip, followed by installation of the DD Mk. 18 rail and a possible return to a standard birdcage FH. I like what the KX3 does with blast off the short barrel, but I hate the weight of it.

I already have all the parts I need for my roof rack short of the plate/bar for mounting it all up. I think I may have finally found that missing piece but am unsure of the attachment points on it and the information I've been able to gleam online is just about worthless. I may just pull the trigger anyway because now that the rifle is done I want to get it into it's new home.

Thanks. It's staying that way, if I can help it. I am sending it off to get engraved tomorrow or Friday. I changed the stock to the older style M4 stock and might add a MOE trigger guard (already bought it, haven't decided to put it on). But other than that, it will be as stock as possible.

Normally, I'm a huge fan of MOE trigger guards... But on this set-up? Unless you use it with gloves on, I'd keep kickin' it old school, lol. Beautiful rifle bud!

Engraved? What for?
I wanted a Colt lower for a MK18 Mod 0/1 build. I also wanted a 6920. I figured two birds with one stone. I will have a 6920 until my stamp comes back, then I can move my 6920 to another lower and get an LMT upper for the SBR'd lower.
I know. I should have just purchased a 6933, but I'm not patient enough. This will be my first stamp.

I went a similar route when I started my SBR - I already had a pinned 14.5" build, and ordered a stripped lower to SBR. The pinned 14.5" went away once I got the SBR finished, and I am now in the process of rebuilding it as a true (sans happy switch) SOCOM/RIS II clone.

I had a 13.8" Troy on my last BCM upper, loved the look, but damn it was heavy! At this point I don't even think a freefloat handguard is worth it unless it's a longer range build, as my FIL can keep my MOE equipped Noveske under MOA with decent ammo.

If I ever need a quad rail again, I definitely will. At this point I just don't have enough stuff to hang off one to justify it. At the time I went with the Troy because quads look cool, and I didn't have the capability to install anything that replaced the stock barrel nut.

Thanks! The kick is not bad at all on the Diablo. The muzzle device really helps with that. It is extrememly loud though! As far as the markings on the mag... I kept losing them at the range and I marked them Yankie Charlie (no one would have this marking) and then a number to keep it from happening.

Airborne Infantryman (http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/member.php?u=132302),
Why did you choose the Sig 516 7.5" PDW for your SBR? I'm interested because I am building my own SBR and have heard of gas issues with barrels less than 11.5". I don't know how true that is. I'm just seeking information and want to know your reasoning. Would adding a can make a difference or change your choice?
Stay on target,
