Your sling might work better the other way around, dont know if you have tried usimng the sling, but I found the weapon didnt hang good with the RSA that way, I found it works better on the top rail.

These are from a few years back. It was one of a T&E sample run. The polymer of the "smoke" and "clear" PMags wasn't up to Magpul standards and they never made production.

Thats not a gas block the rail extends forward

That looks like a PWS upper. Their gas blocks bolt straight to the railed handguard, so I'm not sure how much heat transfer there is between the two. It might get hot enough to damage the MBUS.

Brian Brazier
11-28-2012, 23:36
It is a PWS ar first I thought it was a Larue 11.0 the MBUS should be ok as long as its not directly over the gas block, if it was a piston ar then it would get much hotter.

Not a railed GB
Also,....several have used a MBUS on a railed block without it
melting. I prefer to use Troy flips or DD fixed sights. The the MBUS is solid.

It is a PWS MK116, those are the sights that came with it. There are other sights that I would like to get for it along with a Vortex HD 1-4x optic but I am currently trying to afford my first suppressor so it will have to wait.

That all depends on how much you shoot. I run MBUS sights on most of my guns on floated rails. I have seen an MBUS melt on a gasblock in a class with a high volume of fire. Granted, it took a while, but they can/will melt.

Also I hope you are mistaken on that percentage. For those people that haven't taken any classes sell a gun or two and take one! I have had the opportunity to take a great number of classes thru the years and actually try to plan my vacation time around them. Some people go to "game" and some people go to see what works and doesn't work. It's a great opportunity to test your gear in lieu of running around your living room saying to yourself how good this gun or gear feels. It's a whole lot different when running, shooting in the dark, or if you're lucky enough in a 360deg environment. I often come back from a class after trying a few things out whether it be guns, holsters or optics and put them in the "sell" pile and try and improve (or streamline) my kit.

Why the Eotech 512? I would do some research on them, the XPS line has better battery management, the 512 is old technology. That and the 512 is much more fragile than the XPS linne, I started years ago with a 512 had 2 break, then I upgraded to an XPS 2.0 earlier this year, a vast improvement over the old line, plus it uses the same batteries as my flashlight.

The 512 has been a tried-and-true optic for many years.
Why not XPS?
Have yet to jump on the CR123 bandwagon. I'll consider an upgrade once a AA variant XPS comes out.

yup, the BCM is what I took off when I won this on a facebook give a way. (It just happened to be the rifle sitting at the ready)

Grip angle and size of the grip is near identical, with the U.C. having a little bit more material on the "upswept" area. The width of the U.C. does not taper like the BCM, the BCM is slightly tapered toward the top and flares just a bit at the bottom. The U.C. is pretty much straight walled.

I'd like to get an unstippled one from O.C. for further comparison. But the stipple job on this one feels so good.

All you need is sling and light after the RDS.

That's an awesome carbine!

Thanks samuse,

I do have a Vtac/Troy padded sling, its a little uncomfortable with the front sling mount so far forward and being under the barrel, the rifle always wants to twist around. Iam looking at either at a MI SS drop in rail that has qd mounts, or a qd mount for the MOE handguard.

Have a light too, but am waiting on a Vtac light mount. So in the mean time a scope ring will have to work, lol

Ps I dig the pink ladder cover, might have to put something pink on mine. Just because i like the funny reactions at the range.

IWC makes a low profile QD socket for the MOE handguard that works VERY well. It requires drilling a half inch hole in the handguard, but it is a very low-snag setup. I have one on my 16" midlength, and it's worked quite well for me.

THANK YOU SO MUCH WoodenPlank, thats perfect.

I have been all over the forums looking for something and can't believe i missed that although after looking at some pictures of it installed i can see why. To me it was just a hole, now i know what it is.

I find it easier to use a photo hosting site like photobucket and link your pictures from there. To use pics from a host put img brackets directly on either side of the pic's url. at the beginning and to close it. No spaces.

To fix your post open ea pic in a separate browser. Then in your original browser use the edit feature for your post. Entirely remove each picture's hyperlink. Then go to the corresponding pictures you opened in the separate browsers. Right click on the picture and choose 'copy image location' and paste it into the edit. Put the img brackets on either side of the url. Don't forget to use the "/" to close it. Do this for each picture.

Fwiw this is harder to explain than it is to do.

Also, check out the Magpul XTM hand stop kit. I recently dropped one on my SBR, and I really like it. A little more purchase than the LaRue kit, and the extra front nub is nice, too.

It was 6 months and 2 days, it would've been a week or 2 sooner but I had to make a correction. I looked into the Magpul kit but they were too slow getting to the market so I went LaRue. I like the LaRue index clips a lot better than XTM panels anyway.

I really like the new XTM panels. They're quite grippy, and they have small clips on the back side for pressure pad cables. The down side is those clips are really tight, and can tear up the cable a bit when removing it.

I also liked how well it rounded off the Mk. 18 RIS II rail with XTM-E panels on three sides, and the hand stop kit on the botom.

It was 6 months and 2 days, it would've been a week or 2 sooner but I had to make a correction. I looked into the Magpul kit but they were too slow getting to the market so I went LaRue. I like the LaRue index clips a lot better than XTM panels anyway.

I'm about 100 days into my Form 1. Hopefully everything goes well and I get it quick so I can finish my lower and put my upper on.

What optic is that? Looks like a really strange Aimpoint clone.
