windplex,

The FS is the Noveske, which is based of the Soviet Krink unit. The Noveske is designed to keep the muzzle blast directed forward, as well as increase pressure to aid in reliability of short barreled M16/AR15s. It reduces the noise from the shooter perspective, but it doesn't change the actual decibel level as its simply redirecting it forward. In this way, it escapes being listed as suppressor by the ATF.

Thank you. I agree that there should be no reason it should fall under A t f sup. rules since it does not reduce sound it merely directs it forward. I appreciate the perfect photo and that you included all the info for it! Nicely done! Windplex

Does the text that says "Dead Men tell no tales" something you added to the image, or is that actually on the gun?

That's a really slick way to mount your M3! I like it!

lumberjack
01-04-2007, 17:11
When figuring out what all I wanted on my "Grab this gun and be able to handle most anything the caliber can (aside from ultimate accuracy)" one requirement was that the rifle should be able to keep all its componets on the rifle. The second twist mount was the answer to that problem :). I wish I could fit the other flip cap on the objective lense, oh well I suppose!

With this rifle I can:
CQB
CQB at night (using the X200B)
Long range
Long range at night (using the M3T, out to at least 100 yards)

I am changing the VG to a solid non folding grip, adding an 11.25" 1/2" rail riser from the front sight to nearly the BUIS, adding a GG&G accu cam, and a sling plate. I have a CAA capper for the stock, haven't decided on it yet, the other parts should be here next week. I might low pro the front sight and add a flip up front sight, that will be decided later on after I get some trigger time.

The optics are on the handguard, yes. I cannot detect any movement in the top half of the forearm, but I will test that out at the range. I figure with a 16" barrel, 300 meters will be about it for range, under 200 perferably.

The BUIS mounts with the windage knob on the right, is that right? If I mount it with the knob on the left, which is what seems right, it folds forwards, which I don't want.

Forget the lower with the kinda goofy engraving.

The neat part is the LMT MRP upper. Man that rocks!

Stickman
01-08-2007, 14:48
Thankfully, that lower isn't asking you to go to the prom, so you don't need to worry about its looks. However, while you dislike the lower, I find myself not being a huge MRP fan, so I guess its all a matter of personal taste.

Here is another MRP pic I had laying around... with no goofy lower. ;)

The goofy engraving to me was the part about "deadmen tell no tales".

I understand the pirate nod but man that's one rifle I hate to have been in my hands if I ever had to use one for self defense.

It was a fun one to play around with, but a 14.5" with a Krink on the front is pretty nose heavy, and without the benefit that the Krink gives to the little guns.

I ended up liking the longer rail more than the Krink for that project.

I picked up a levlang for my 16in for jack rabbit hunting, it allows me to use less hearing protection but I have always wondered if the Krink would work better.
One cool thing is the muzzle blast; it's strong enough to blow the plants over in front of me.

Yes, its new, made by Magpul and has been working very nicely for myself, as well as other LEO & instructors who have been shooting it with me. Some of them post here, and may comment on it as well.

I've done a review of the magazines which can be found at the below link. There are a lot more pictures at that link as well.

As Gibbles pointed out, I am affiliated with Rainier Arms, and we expect to have them in around the end of the month.

ETA- I just noticed that the sponsor info with Rainier Arms went through, which makes me a dealer on the board now.

My CMMG and Bushmaster. The CMMG is now my patrol rifle and my Bushmaster is now going to be my "Whipping Boy" and it will get some abuse since Bushies get such a bad rap and I have recently seen two Bushmasters (and one DPMS) fail in front of me at our range during training.

I am wanting a good one, but a used one because my funds are limited. If you have one of these and would part with it for around 700 - 800 dollar range could you let me know please.

Nice, how do you like that magpul stock?
I have been thinking of getting something better than my standard RRA stock. Mostly I would like a cheek rest and something that locks up a little more solid. My RRA stock is better than most I have tried tho.
And I'm still waiting on my Stag Lowers from FBMG

Also, you can shoot at lots of places; mostly I go out doors west of Utah Lake. The gun range up parleys canyon is very AR friendly, the younger guy running the place will even take the time to shoot the **** with you about AR's. Lekay,(I shoot free there) is another story, make sure you keep it slow fire, very slow fire. I usually keep my Remington 700 on hand so if someone makes a rude comment I can pull the 700 out and shoot with that for a while, they usually shut up after that.
And I understand FBMG and Getsome Guns are building some indoor ranges that will be rifle friendly.

I have a Magpul CTR Milspec stock on both of my builds and would nnot have it any other way. I love that stock. In you case be sure to get a milspec buffer tube in order for the CTR stock to work on your RRA.

The railed free float foregrip comes with a built in light saber mount. Bayonet length of course as the one seen in the picture. The choice of red was my call, I hope my uncle doesn't mind.

As for the CTR, these are excellent stocks. I'm thinking about picking one up for one of mine.

Well... the scope came off of my SKS, and it is the only type of rear sight I have at the moment. It its pretty low, and is kinda uncomfortable to look through, but it'll do for now. I'd like to get some sort of riser for it.

The scope sees right through the front sight, oddly enough. So the scope works great on the gun, it's just in a slightly uncomfortable spot, for the time being.

All the available gadgetry available for ARs is awesome, but there's something about a 'stock' AR-15 that makes it sexy.

No more scoped AR... this rifle isn't really fit for one. If I want a scoped AR, I'll look into 20"s. For now I'll enjoy the M4.

The ACOG setup is one I'm borrowing/ testing out/ playing around with, so that knocks off a huge chunk of money right there.

Upper- Daniel Defense SPR Mid Length Complete Upper Receiver Group with 12.0 FSPM rail and SS LW barrel.

Rear Sight- GG&G A2 BUIS

Stock & grip- Magpul CTR & Magpul MIAD

Bipod- Tango Down Bipod (Advanced Combat)

Lower Receiver- Mega

Trigger- Geissele Hi Speed Trigger

Magazine and Rail Covers- Magpul PMAG, XT panel and ladder covers.

Sling Mount- Daniel Defense Burnsed loop.

I think thats everything.

Wow.

What is that, a 7" barrel?

Any sort of range report on that SBR would be awesome.

That strikes me as a wonderful vehicle weapon if the circumstances were correct. (contractor, police, SHTF, vehicle recovery, whatever)

My AR Pistol, The DPMS levang comp does a good job of taming the flash and it makes the muzzle report almost sound like my Carbine. (Almost ;) )
I used a LAR Grizzly Pistol marked lower, and a CMT flat top upper, M1S 7.5 barrel, M1S Pistol buffer setup, and it functions flawless. I wrapped the buffer tube with para cord, and I just rest it on my cheek when shooting.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w88/Gibbles1221/ARPistol.jpg
I'm very happy with it.
I took it to the shoot we had here a little while ago, and did some night shooting with and with out the comp, and everyone had alot of fun with it.
I have been thinking about turning it into a SBR, one day I might but, I think I want a suppressor for my carbine first.

The Noveske barrel is outstanding... much more accurate than I am :) Off the bench it was shooting ragged holes with cheap ammo (50m)... I have yet to get it out to a longer range.

We'll see. I haven't used them much yet. I don't see myself abondoning USGI mags anytime soon... I don't like that the floor plates widen the mag on the bottom (like when you are storing/holding mags in a mag pouch side by side it's annoying).

I'm sure I can throw it out my window or drop it from the top of my house... but I don't know if they will hold ammo for months/years without breaking... I know my USGI mags don't have issues with that...

So, jury is still out.

Well I have been working on this project for a while. I called Wes Grant at MSTN a couple of weeks ago to discuss with him about which upper best suited my needs. This week it arrived. LMT 10.5" upper with a LaRue 10" rail fore end, LMT BUIS, PRI CH, Noveske KX3 Pig. All of this is on an LMT lower.

I took it to the range yesterday and shot it for group with a Leupold Mark IV 1.5-5x20. I grouped it with 55 grn AE ball and with BH 77grn. I'm extremely pleased with the accuracy with both loads at 100 yards. I took off the Leupy and put on an EoTech on a LaRue mount. The EoTech will be the primary optic for this rifle.

All I can say that is that I'm a very satisfied customer of MSTN and will be back again hopefully in the near future.

They look kinda pixelated because they are originally 1600x1200. I have these also at Imageshack in all of their splendor, but they were too big for this thread. So these are hosted by Photobucket.

EDIT: Well they're not so pixelated as I thought they'd be, but still, these are severely shrunken.
