I couldn't find a recent picture thread one but wanted to throw my picture in. From top to bottom:
-My first build using CMT/Stag stripped upper and lower along with various other parts from RRA, Troy, YHM, ARMS and ACE (the stock has since been replaced with the ACE SOCOM, I built it with this because I had it laying around).
-HK USPc in .40
-My Colt AR15 A2 Governemt Carbine (I replaced the collapsible with the A2 stock after purchasing)
-G19
-G23
-HK Benelli M1S90

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k81/1811guy2/AR-15.jpg
That's the new hardwood floor I just installed underneath it all. I took the picture just to show my brother how the floor turned out, but it looked pretty boring by itself.
I have started a second build using a Lauer Custom lower with the ARFX stock in the picture. The upper will be a CMT flattop with the 18" SPR barrel from Noveske. It will also get the TA01 and a new TA31 will be going on my frankengun.

Hello, Black Rifle fans!
I'm going to "Sticky" this thread as the current picture thread for the Black Rifle Club. The old thread has been locked, as loading extremely large threads can be hard on GT's already-overworked servers. I'll leave the old one here in the BRC for now, but we'll use this one as the primary pic thread.
Thanks!

What kind of pistol grip is that?

Actually, that was the whole reason I built the second one, I wanted to keep the A2 carbine stock. It also shoots sub MOA groups and I didn't want to mess with that. I did change one thing; I took the collapsible stock off and put on the A2 stock. I just don't like the sloppy feel of the old Colt collapsible stock, and the A2 stock looked pretty good on it.

New to Glock Talk, but I figured I'd jump in with both feet. One of my tools. It's a black rifle underneath, but wearing some newer clothing appropriate for the area I'm working. To make up for the lack of high tech attachments, please note the selector switch option, yes it is an original M16A2.

Tape switch on the vertical grip for the Surefire 6P with an extension so it can use the 9V bulb. Cheapo panoramic sight on the front rail that's sighted in for about 30 feet so I can use it inside for a "precision shot" if I had to (but hope I never do).

Aimpoint and Eotech are both now issued, and its not a matter of right or wrong, its a matter of what works best for the individual user. Unless you are in the military, or issued a certain piece of equipment and mandated to use it, I don't see the arguement.
It would be nice to see a pic thread with pictures in it instead of debates, especially when the rest of the board is available for that.

Top one is a Bushmaster lower with Magpul PRS stock, Sierra Precision Rifles grip, CMT upper, Bushmaster 20" HBAR with custom compensator by RJ's Custom Shop out of Washougal, WA, and a Bushmaster Varminter freefloat tube. The scope is an IOR Valdada 2.5-10x42. I don't think I will have enough room to mount the scope, and will either have to get a Larue mount or add some rail section to the freefloat tube or replace the tube with a rail system. I cut down the original front sight tower to make a low-profile gas block. I don't think I will keep it, it looks pretty bad. Next step is a JP trigger.
Bottom AR is my original Bushmaster lower with Magpul M93B stock, Falcon Ergo grip, JP firecontrol system, EGW M4 upper, DPMS 16" M4 profile barrel, Midwest Industries 2-piece freefloat quad rail with Magpul XT rail covers, ARMS #22M68 with cantilever spacer, and Aimpoint CompM3 4MOA. I used to have the YHM stuff on this rifle.

My newly reconfigured AR-15. I'm taking it out to shoot on Monday after work. I ordered a couple of small 1/2" rail risers from Yankee Hill Machine to raise the ACOG up, as I feel it is an awkward position for me. My Aimpoint has a 1/2" riser on it, and I like the heads-up position I can have with that on the other AR. This rifle is light. About 7 lbs.
Bushmaster lower w/ Magpul M93B stock, JP firecontrol system (w/antiwalk pins), Magpul enhanced trigger guard, SPR grip.
MSTN-built upper w/ 16" Douglas SS bbl, PRI rifle-length competition forearm, MSTN qc brake, LMT upper, LMT full-auto bolt carrier, hard-chromed 6.8 bolt, and PRI gasbuster charging handle, with a Trijicon ACOG TA31F to top it off.

Hello black rifle fans.
I am researching black rifles for a purchase. Would like your feedback! Here are some thoughts
1) Primarily I wish for a robust /reliable weapon.
2) Suitable for 3 gun competition and home defense (unlikley as that might become a need). Need not be perfect for 3 gun.
2) Do not wish to assemble a kit since I do not know enough.
3) Wish to keep cost to about $1100 max since the Rock River Arms Elite Car 2 (which is the basis for the FBI/DEA contract) with 2-stage trigger and hogue grip lists for $1050 and it seems like a good weapon -- however I really don't know that for sure! RRA claims 1MOA at 100yds.
4) Any merit or issues with buying a 308 versus the 223 of same quality/features?
5) I already own two tactical lights. Either can be mounted on the weapon but will likely use the metal sights until I learn them before getting red dot.
Would like to hear your thoughts and learn from your expertise!
Thank you very much for your help!

Go ahead and get the RRA Elite Car 2. Get it with the dominator mount so you can mount an Eotech on it at a later date. It will work very well for 3 gun. .223 will work fine and dandy for you. .308 is a b*tch for 3 gun, but some guys swear by it. If you think you need to engage thin skinned armored vehicles, or enemy personnel at ranges greater that 300 yards with frequency, then .308 may be what you need.
+1 on the new thread. Now back to the pictures.

Thank you for the feedback. I now agree the 308 is unnecessary and expensive to shoot which i dearly love to do.
By the way I saw a forward down grip that holds a magazine. I thought it might be a good way to keep a 20 round mag of penetrating style rounds handy for home D.
Any thoughts?
Is this the dumbest idea ever?
Is this the worst grip ever? Thank you all! Nice pictures by the way!

Please take a look at this front down grip that holds a magazine. I lke the idea of keeping a 20 round mag of penetrators just in case of need in it.

It looks interesting, but a little gimmicky. You would be better off having a spare mag pouch on your belt IMO. I do not see how you could efficiently incorporate a weapon light into that thing.

I own a 3 battery tactical light (123 lithium) that would attach to the side pic rail mount and has a straight cord with a remote pressure switch which attaches to whatever grip one attaches or to the stock of weapon.
Seems like the light and grip can work together.
I do not know if the grip holds the mag securely over many uses and years of use. I have only seen the photo and seen an AR with it for sale.

Sorry about the delay. I had no idea you guys had posted questions.
This was my first AR so I built it on a budget. The rails and forend are made by CAA/Fobus. I put a LED light on the right side and a surefire on the left (overkill, I know and I have since removed the LED. I got the surefire setup from brightflashlights.com and it is a G2 with a different bezel and a tapeswitch. the guy I bought it from was really cool and set a few pieces of bicycle tube so I could mount hte tapeswitch. I mounted the light with a scope ring and a angle mount.

Brother its good to hear that common sense prevails at times, even though it took awhile. The Magpul CTR rocks, and one lives on my duty pig, as well another on my training mule.

OK ... one more. I threw her up on the roof after our night shoot a few days ago. After this shot when I was cleaning it, I swapped my 1-point for a Specter CQB 3-point and put a Wilson Ergo-grip on it. I would say it's done, now.

Is that Wolf in those mags? Shame on you for treating your AR like that.
Wolf!?! No. Never. We get cases of Federal American Eagle for practice and range quals. Does it really look like Wolf ammo to you!?! It was a bad point-and-shoot picture with a crappy flash!
Fernman, I had the choice of the small-head or the large-head assembly when I ordered it. I went with the large and a few guys have switched to the large after playing with mine a bit. The larger head focuses the beam a bit tighter and lights objects farther out a little better when compared side by side. The draw-back, obviously, is the tighter beam isn't as fast in dark, CQB engagements, I don't think. I don't use this AR for PLANNED entrys (it has been used on the fly many times, though) or home security duty. I try to get good distance when engaging with my patrol AR, that way I get a bit of an advantage against a handgun. This light set-up works best for me for patrol deployment. That's another reason why I went to the 3-point sling for patrol. I use a single-point for my MP-5 and can hook my single point back onto this AR (I carry it with me), but after searching for a few blocks and through backyards, over fences and walls, the 3-point is the way to go for me again for patrol deployment.
I appoligize for jumping the gun...or should I say the bullet. It does look like steal case ammo though.
 I want to go to Stick's playground . . .
The rifle posted in the pic on 10/30 is a beaut. Details?

You are better than 99.9999% of all magazine writers. Your evail of your light systems was to the point and useful. I wish more "expert" writers know what you know and write like you write. Thank you!

Almost done. Had her out to the range twice now - runs like a top. Handier than a two-peckered goat. Also accurate as heck (can't miss the 8" plate at 100 if I tried - OK - could if I tried hard). Love this thing. Shoulda gone SBR years ago.
PS - I have painted the EO and light now, so don't worry. Will have a VFG and front BUIS this week. Looking for a sling I like.

Nice looking shotgun, but shouldn't the CTR with the buttpad be on the shotgun? I like that reflex on the shottie, too :)
BigFatDog

I've got a pad for the shotgun. I recently put the ctr on and hadn't shot it yet. I just wanted to try it without first:freak:.
The reflex is a much better alternative to the CMore that I have for the shotgun.
BTW...I only fire a couple of rounds, at the end of the session, with the lights mounted at the range. I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression :mallninja:.
MALL NINJA! I usually have mine mounted, just because it keeps me being used to the feel of the weapon (not to mention one is an M900, so i lose my vert grip if i remove it).
Then again, I shoot at private property most of the time, so I can do all the mall ninjaness I want without fear of GT backlash. But I don't. I swear. umm.. er..

The Vltor billet upper is a heavier duty unit that has reinforcements built through out. It is also cut from a billet as opposed to a forging, so its dimensions should be exact, instead of just really close. There are people who feel that the billet is a superior upper for precision work due to its perfection with the billet. I'm not sure how much realistic gain can be expected in that arena.
For most people, its a matter of having an upper that looks different, or they can say is a billet.
Below is a picture of my Vltor upper on a SunDevil billet lower. POF is also making a billet lower. I've got some pictures of those I should try to post as well.

Stick, really dumb question: what is that style flash arrestor? Brand? Is it designed to send the sound down range? Looks large compared to all other choices, so I ask these dumb questions. Thank you! Windplex

Stick you are correct about asking the question if billet has REAL
WORLD and Practical-use advantages over forged. I can tell you what you likely know: that billet items benefit from consistently dense billets they start with and are stronger provided the design is the same. Of course if design is also bolstered in areas for extra strength then a CNC billet product will be that much stronger. Billet metals are usually stronger than forged and have less imperfections.
The question for us is whether we need the extra robustness or are the forged proudcts perfectly sufficient -- the latter is true for me and your mileage may vary.
