I also wanted an XD before ako nauwi sa GLOCK.

I even emailed them asking where to buy & this is their reply

adam@springfield-armory.com
"We do not have a distributor in the Philippines at this time. Please be advised that our contract with the manufacturer of the XD does not allow us to export the pistol our off North America. Iím sorry but I wonít be able to help with your request."

STRONGHAND is the Philippine distributor for HS Produkt of Croatia,
manufacturer/designer of the Springfield XD series pistols.
Here, they're sold under the oiginal brand-name: HS2000.

Check out the 'Filipino Firearms Directory' link in my sig,
and give the nearest Stronghand outlet a call.

That may explain why HS products are being sold in the Philippines instead of the Springfield brand. Anyway, they're just the same, just like the Walther and SW pistols.

Aye.
That is PRECISELY why HS2000 and not Springfield XD pistols
are available here.

Bob Reese's "Springfield Armory" only has a license (from HS Produkt)
for United States distribution and retail of the re-branded pistols.

The Springfield XD's are made in Croatia too. By HS Produkt.
Pre-fitted, knocked down pistol kits are shipped to Illinois
and reassembled by the folks there.

Even the Spingfield 1911's are made overseas: in Brazil by IMBEL.
Again, pre-fitted, knocked down pistol kits are shipped to Illinois
and reassembled by the folks there.

The "oldest name in American firearms" is a misleading tagline.
It has NO real connection to the historical Springfield Armory
of Springfield, Massachussetts, which was closed in 1968, save
that owner Bob Reese bought the name rights in 1974.

I see...thanks for the info sir. all the while , i've been thinking that springfield was created and designed by americans. i didnt know the history. i was even thinking that the designers for the springfield 03 were the ones who developed this handgun. remember that powerful 30 cal rifle from way back? well..anyway, thanks for the info. proud pa naman ako kasi, illinois galing ang springfield xd, my home state. hehehe.

Springfield Armory has been working overtime to sustain illusions.
The XD is totally Croatian-designed, and is a rebranded, Croatian-built HS2000.
(Same way that RIA's are actually Armscors, ditto the Tanfoglio and
Charles Daly 1911's)

Pride in Illinois?
Well, there's the Elisco-Armalite/Philippines-Illinois connection.
If you can remain a firearms enthusiast in Illinois
--moreso in Chi-town-- you have plenty to be proud of.

If they are the same then does that mean that spare parts are interchangeable? I read about the policy of Springfield that they don't sell spare parts for the XD, that you'd have to bring it to their shop in case anything breaks. So technically can you just use parts from the HS2000 or do they have the same parts policy as springfield?

It's just the badge that's different. Like the Toyota Corolla Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe, which sells lower than it's Toyota "parent."

well, still wala pa ring mas gagaling sa originality nating mga pinoys we've got ARMSCOR, makers of authentic 1911's made from the philippines and of course the "Danao handgun makers"..hehehehe. who knows maybe someday, danao can create their own version of the steyr aug or the mp5 or the p90.ehhehe. hindi impossible. walang impossible sa pinoy.

They are the same pistol.....period.;)
SA have a new policy regarding parts, there are certain 8 parts that they will not ship to you because of liability. And you're right, they don't sell you the part, they replace it free because of the lifetime warranty of SA. I broke my FP retaining pin and they sent me one free. XD owners here are complaining about this policy, one owner even sent an email to Strong Hand to buy some parts that SA will not send to us but I don't think he got an answer.
