Highnoon: Holster review
http://www.highnoonholsters.com
Model: Down Under, IWB
Gun: HK P2000SK
Hide: Horse Hide
Color: Natural
Hand: Left
Waiting period: ~6 months
My first thoughts when receiving the holster was how well it was broken-in for the P2000SK. I had a preconceived notion that horse hide holsters were very stiff, hence a longer breaking period. Its apparent, Highnoon had already took time to alleviate the stresses of the leather from the factory.
I chose the horse hide because it respells moisture better and lasts longer. The holster in general, it feels comfortable without leaving me irritated. Its built to be crush resistant for one handed reholstering and includes a rubber sight track that is stitched in the holster.
Opting for the 1 ¼ inch black belt strap (horse hide) along with the default 1 ½ inch belt strap (natural) is a good idea if you plan to use different belts. The belt straps are interchangeable and screwed in to the holster (both screws are threaded with red lock tight).
Weapon retention is very good because of its rubber sight track and tension screw. Be advised, pulling the gun out of the holster can be a little stiff because the top of the gun muzzle rubs against the sight track. Time will tell if this loosens up…
Unlike the Glock, the HK ambi slide release levers protrude a little more, hence adding width to the pistol and holster. Looking down the holster, you will notice its shaped more like a diamond vs. a rectangle (see photo). This adds a little more width to this holster compared to a Glock version.
How one chooses to carry the pistol is subjective, however, carrying in the 11 o’clock position was comfortable because of the P2000SK’s short barrel. When sitting down, the gun does not protrude into your leg or stomach.
Below are some pictures that illustrate the holster.
Enjoy!
