I am looking for simple, effective sights for my (soon to be) Kimber Pro Carry. I like something along the lines of the XS Big Dot or Heinie Straight 8 sights, or similar. I don't care for the 3-dot sight picture. Just isn't my style. What is the best non 3-dot sight on the market today, for 1911 style guns?
Personally I like the XS big dot. I don't like the 3 dots either.

Novacks offer more options than anyone else.

After shooting with factory Glock, Trijicon, Meps, XS, regular Heinies, Novak, Combat Pyramid etc, etc, I've come to the conclusion that.....
.....the Race Cut Heinie Straight Eights are by far and away the best sights I've ever used!!!

I've seen the sight picture from the XS website, so I know what that looks like. It is pretty much designed for stressed fire, combat range. Might allow for a distant (25y) shot with practice. What do the Straight 8's look like? Obviously, I know it is a dot on top of a dot to form an '8', but how big are they? Are they big enough to get a picture at close range (<7y) but take a quick headshot at 15-20y? I've never actually seen a down the sights pic of them. Can someone post it please?
I think I may go with the Straight 8. Save the XS for something else down the road. Do the Heinie's come in the night version or only the painted version?
