I picked up my first real 1911 this past Friday, a Kimber Custom Classic Series I. I have attached some pictures, but they aren't that great; IMO, they don't do this fine pistol justice, especially the smooth rosewood grips. Upgrades include a mag well, ambi-safety, and Tru-Glo TFO sights. It came with a Wilson 47D magazine, and a Colt 7-rounder. I have two more 47Ds on the way as I write this, and I plan on selling the Colt if anyone is interested.
Having not had a ton of frequent experience with 1911s, I suspected going into my first range session with her that it might take me several magazines of shooting to get comfortable. Wrong. Starting with the second magazine, I was laying down 2" groups from 15 yards. By the time my 260-rounds session was done, I put my last 15 rounds into a group the size of a golfball. I shot one ragged hole after another. IMO, my .40 has more kick, and this Kimber was a JOY to fire again and again. To say I was impressed is a gross understatement! There is something about loading up those fat, heavy 230gr FMJs and sending them down range, then watch the smoke rise from the end of the barrel. Lord have mercy, am I hooked! :)
