View Full Version : Difficulty Picking up Front Sight
I recently put on Heinie Slant Pros but had difficulty picking up the front sight after shooting IDPA. Is this a case of just getting use to the sights or do I need to put a light colored paint on the front sight for quicker sighting?

The Dawson FO front sight is a great combination with the Heinie rears. I particularly like the .105 (narrow) version which gives a precise but very bright sight picture.

Most likely its time. Put a thousand or so rounds through it and give it an honest try.
I got my Heinie rear and Dawson front from CGR. The front sight is fast to pick up. I too had problems with the front sight. It's worth it IMO.

"...difficulty picking up the front sight after shooting IDPA."
You could use paint on the front while you're "learning the new sights? then remove once fully accustomed to them.
Do pleanty of drt practice with them. At 1st. ust the whitest "tgt" you can come up with so the front post stands out the best. Probably need to train yourself to bring the sights up already as close to being in alignment as is possible. Once warmed up, dry try some from a ready position with eyes closed to verify. If they are off your stance, arm position, etc. may be off and need adj. or work. F/O are OK but can be a big crutch too.
