Use 'Email Notification' by default?

I recently changed the email on my account to the one I use more often. Now I get all kinds of email about threads I have posted in even though the "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" is off. Is there something else that has to be turned off?

I would have thought that would do it.

Are you "subscribed" to any forums, or are these emails about random threads you have participated in?
