View Full Version : Do you like the Trijicon factory night sights?
I have the Glock OEM night sights on my G19, and I ordered my G17 with the same sights. My dealer, however, says that he's out of the G17 with the Glock night sights. He has one with the Trijicons in stock, and offered to send that instead so I don't have to wait.
The OEM front sight is staked into the slide. My dealer told me that the Trijicon sight is bolted into the slide.
Mainly, I want to know if that bolted front sight ever works loose. Also, if you've got an opinion on the factory Trijicons, please share with me. Thanks!
I don't know what you mean by factory Trijicons. I had Triji's installed on my G23 through my dealer. As far as I know, Glock OEM is Meprolights.
I've heard they come off easily, but Trijicons have not had any problems.
Factory, as in they ship from Glock with the sights already installed on the gun.
Meps but the trihjicons a good too.
My OEM Meps on my G21 are great! The front sight is staked on, and where I've heard this can work loose through repeated holstering (as yet, I don't holster), I've had no problem in over 4000-rounds.
I did have a dealer-installed (screwed on) Big Dot work loose...
I guess the deal with a loosened, staked sight, is how do you tighten it? I guess you could order screw-on replacement.
FYI: Glock's standard plastic front sight is staked on, and removing it wrecks it.
One thing with the Meps, the white graphics are inserts, and not simply paint, as they have been on the Trijicons. I have read where solvents can remove the paint...

I have some trij's on my 5 year old glocks and just got adjustable meps on my 34, I hardly notice a differance except the meps are a tad brighter, don't know if it's from newness or something else. The way people talked I expected more of a difference.
I can't comment on the Trijicons, but I will say that I think the screwed on front sights are better than the staked on ones.
I've had two front sights that were screwed on and one that was staked on. The staked on one came loose and was promptly replaced with a screwed on one. I've never had a screwed on front sight come loose. As long as they're installed with red loctite then you should never have a problem.

Sure it will work loose if are not cleaned and prepped properly. Can't have any oil on the screw at all as it weakens the Loctite significantly. Trij. makes very good sights but personally don't like the fat-width front and the wide and shallow rear notch. Sight picture is not crisp like that from those cut from all-steel stock either.
There are better sights available for not much more money, IMO.......

The front sight that is staked on (Glock factory sight) can over time work itself loose, especially if it is bumped on a hard surface. The trijicons which are bolted on will not work themselvs loose as long as they have a little loctite on them. The trijicon that are installed at the factory come with red loctite installed and they will not work themselves loose.
Hope this helps. :)
Out of the 3 options, I prefer the screwed in type.

Well,
My first Glock, a 23 that I bought in 1991 had Trijicons on it from the factory, they were identical to the replacement Trijicon sights I just replaced them with.
After almost 15 years the front sight never moved, in fact, it rusted on and I had to use Vise-Grips to remove it. I have a feeling with the red loctite I will have the same experience in another 12-15 years when I replace these sights.
