My last 1911 was a kimber ultra carry and I had a few problems with it extracting. So I was looking for a bit larger pistol with a little more realiability. I ran across this one on the forum and am pretty interested. Tell me what ya'll think: http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=503688&highlight=springfield
How are the reliability on these pistols? What type of extractor? internal or external? Do any of ya'll have one? Thanks in advance for any info.

That Springer looks pretty nice. It has an internal extractor. I think $700 with what all comes with it is a pretty good price.
My $.02.

I have the GI model, if you look at my old thread about it I had an issue with a defective set of recoil springs. BUT SA is taking care of it and have been top notch so far. When it has worked it was nice and I have shot a loaded version which was really nice. Its all an objective view but for the money I think its the best way to go.

What is the deal with internal vs external extractors? Which is more realiable? Thanks

Kimber toyed around with a number of versions of an external extractor. The internet scuttlebutt was that they were far less reliable, and that Kimber couldn't get it to work reliably enough, and ended up going back to the internal extractor. My though is, if the original internal extractor worked so well, why mess with it?
To answer your original question, I have a Loaded Stainless Champion, and I can say it is an excellent gun. Mine has been very reliable, accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I'd buy another Springfield in a minute if I had the cash. Here's mine with Hogue rubber grips (I've since put the original Cocobolo grips on.)

I still like the champion, and I'm waiting to see if its still available, but I went to several gun shops around town and they are all either trying to sell me a kimber. (which they are all kimber dealers) but also they all tell me that the way to go is the S&W 1911sc, I looked at it and it seemed pretty darn nice, any feedback as far as they go? Thanks
My wife is in the market for a Champion too. Still trying to save up thought. But I've been looking around though on the auction boards and the firearms listings on here.
This is a nice one. This is the third time that I've seen this guy list this same gun. Both times before the reserve pirce was not met and the bidding topped off at $650.

I just put mine on Gun Broker if your interested. Its only got about 400 rounds though it. Wanted to carry a steel 1911 but after a couple days my back started hurting (bad back). She eats anything I feed it.

You can't go wrong with the Springer Champion. I just shot a buddies LW Champion last week. Together we put 750 rounds through it without any problems. I would recommend it.
