View Full Version : Got a beater 1911?
I'm looking to buy one or two. Not getting traffic on the WTB forum. I'm gonna hit the gunshows as well but I'd prefer to buy from people that will be honest about what is wrong with them...
FWIW, this is for a good cause... so that I can really learn to hand fit barrels. Every 5" I have already has a match barrel..
In any case - http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=505046

I'll let you hand fit a barrel on my Springfield Mil-Spec, but you have to return the gun to me. :)
To do that, I'd have to have an FFL... which I may one day... that is an 2006 "to do".

No you wouldn't. I'd pay FFL xfer fees both ways, and would also pay for materials.
Silly boy!
;?
You have to have an FFL to work on someone elses gun...
And by the time you paid shipping both ways, transfer fees both ways, and for a match barrel... you could have sent it to almost ANYWHERE.
If/once I get my FFL I might offer a "I'm still learning, no promises but I'll do my best" gunsmithing service program ;)

I never knew that.
To keep it overnight, dems da rules. Not necessarily observed, but I have no desire to run afoul of the law...
Have you looked at RIA's since they are cheap...new?
Not so much... I'd prefer to stick with Springers, Colts, Kimber series 1, etc etc.
If anyone has beater Baers, Wilsons, Browns, I'll look at those as well ;f
