I put on some Heinie Straight Eights a couple of weeks ago, and in my initial giddiness I ignored the fact that they appeared a little dim to me. Now that I've had them for a little bit, I'm less than impressed with how bright they are. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that their Heinies might be a little dimmer than some other sights they own? I'm wondering if there's the (extremely) slim chance that I might've gotten a bum set.
That's how far I could see my Trijicons. I just sent in a G17 slide for Glock night-sights, powered by Mep inserts, I'll have to wait and see how they compare.

Mine did seem dimmer than my Trjicons, but once I blacked out the back sights of the Triji's they looked more the same, triji's maybe still just a wee bit brighter. Wonder if the common white outline on meps, triji's etc.. just makes them seem brighter than the all black Heinies.
Personelly very happy with both, not worried about it either way. Can see both fine, and too much brightness (which neither have) could be as bad as too little.

My Heinie's seem a little dimmer than all my other nite sights but the tubes are made by trijicon so I have no idea why.
I have been purchasing Ameriglow sights lately...cheaper and the last three sets had trijicon tubes.
But don't you just love the Heinies ...I got the slant 8's.

I'm gonna have to be the judge of that.
Glad to see someone else that enjoys a good pun. ;f

Heinie generally has smaller diameter tubes than other brands which makes them seem dimmer but also makes them less distracting in daylight.
For me if I can see the dots they are bright enough, I dont need a green surefire staring back at me.

I was hoping the guru would reply! Smaller diameter then, I guess that answers my question. Thanks.

Night sights are not a brightness competition. For me Heinie's are just right. I had a set of Meprolights that were so bright, they bothered my eyes, and obscured my vision at night.
Heinie's are just bright enough to see if you need to see them, and not be a distraction or worse yet, give away your position.

I like the Heinies that I have on my G17, they dont bother me, they just glow, and they dont reflect off of my glasses, and they are easy for me to pick up and just stack the two dots. I have Trijicons on my G19 and will probably swap em out for Heinies sooner or later.
