I was ordering a Comp-tac ctac for my new s&w 1911sc which is a commander sized pistol. I assume (and ordered) that the correct holster to buy is the colt commander 4 1/4 sized holster for my pistol?

Yep, I just got a Sparks "commander" holster for my 4.25" S&W 1911PD and it fits great.
One thought- Do you own or ever intend to buy a 5" 1911?
If so, consider the "Slide" model. The bottom's cut out so it'll fit both. IIRC, You can send yours back at any time and they'll cut it for you.
Good holster.

I always wondered why they didnt sell a slide model that had say a 4" length. That way it would fit everything but a micro compact but still cover most if not all of the muzzle of the gun.
