I would like to convert one of my 1911s in 45 ACP to 38 Super. I realize that I would need to purchase another barrel and some 38 Super magazines, but is there anything else and is it possible?
;?
From everthing I've read you'll need an entire top end , a new ejector and slide stop.

And a little luck, sometimes a .45 frame ramp will be cut too deep to accomodate a Super barrel. Friend of mine has one that works fine, a SA slide and Briley barrel on a Gold Cup frame, but that is no guarantee that yours will.
You need a new top end at a minimum. The breechface diameter is .1 to big on a .45 for a .38 super.
Also, while you are thinking about a 38 super...
