View Full Version : Anybody try or use the Knoxx Spec Ops on their 870?
I'm in the market for a stock for my 870 and I see the Remington has been putting the Knoxx Spec Ops on some of their LE guns.
Has anyone tried or used this stock and does it live up to the hype of recoil reduction?
Thanks
I haven't tried it personally, but there is a good thread on THR about it and most of the posters were raving about it. I am planning on getting one myself when I get my refund check for my 870.

I'm getting one too but only after I refinish it to olive drab.
Did somebody say refund on 870's? Is that as in rebate refund for sales or taxes?
I don't know about their SpecOps stock but their CopStock does an amazing job of reducing perceived recoil. My best friend & I now run tactical drills w/full power loads and no discomfort or bruising to show for it.

The Spec Ops stock is the ONLY one to ever put on your tactical shotty, other than Knoxx's folding stock, the Spec Ops is just so very nice. Reduced recoil is an understatement.
here are some pron pics of one of my 870's.

I want a SpecOps stock so bad I can taste it. Damn you bills!
Very nice pics though. ;c
Well I bought one and put it on and I agree with cryhavoc it realy does reduce recoil. But I only got to shoot about a box and a half because my new 870 stoped feeding and I had to take it to remington repair shop today. I plan on putting it through it's paces again when I get it back.

Could you elaborate on your feeding problem?

Sure, Shells would not come out of the mag tube because one of the rails (sorry for not using proper nomenclature) that hold the shells in was jumping out of it's track and would not retract when you cycled the action. This was a brand new gun that I made it through about a half a box of shells before it started acting up.
I dropped it off at an authorized Remington gunsmith yesterday so I will post up what they do to it once I get it back.

Knoxx warns about the surefire forend somehow causing pain to the shooter if his grip is improper. Could you give a little bit more info on that. I want the exact same setup for my mossberg. Thanks.

PAIN???
I don't have time for Pain!!!
No really, I have no idea what they are referring to.
I suppose if you have a girly grip on the foreend, the section that houses the light might come back and hit your hand during recoil, but I haven't had any issues.
Link to the statement from KNOXX??
I noticed that if I have my offhand too far forward on my Surefire forend that recoil w/full power loads causes the lower front angled portion of the forend to painfully impact the edge of my offhand index finger. No such problems using a std forend.

NOTE: Shooters with SurefireŽ Forends installed on their shotguns may experience sharp recoil on their weak hand against the lamp housing. This is due to the rearward movement of the shotgun over the pistol grip. We recommend that you hold the forend at least 1.5 inches back from the lamp housing to avoid this painful action. I have a Knoxx Spec-Ops stock on my green/black 870 Tactical. I love it! Recoil is much softer, and the shorter length of pull is wonderful for tactical drills. I could see how the Sure-Fire forend could hit you in the hand on recoil if you use a weak grip on the forend. I don't think it would be a problem for most people, but I can't say for sure because I don't have a Sure-Fire forend on my 870. The stock is wonderful, regardless.
I would rather find another method of attaching a light than give up my Knoxx Spec-Ops stock.
