View Full Version : whats a colt delta elite vincent63 03-05-2006, 19:28 10mm,90%,no box, worth? G20man32904 03-05-2006, 19:29 Whatever someone is willing to pay for it? ;) Blued, stainless, enhanced, pre-enhanced, stock, modified? Mad Ryan 03-05-2006, 20:06 I seem to remember the Delta Elites blowing up... Could be wrong tho... vincent63 03-05-2006, 20:44 blued and stock NetNinja 03-05-2006, 21:02 $500 to $600 bucks No they did not blow up. The early ones had a frame cracking problem which was fixed by Squaring the Slide release notch which you can only see by taking the slide apart. I own 2 of them a Stainless and a Blued model. Both work fine and they haven't blown up. freepatriot 03-06-2006, 12:39 Gonna get it, Vincent? paul45 03-06-2006, 16:48 Originally posted by Mad Ryan I seem to remember the Delta Elites blowing up... Could be wrong tho... Thats the biggest load of HorsePuckey I have ever heard. Do you now, or have ever, owned and shot a Delta?...and can document the "blowing up"??? Beware of the ERRORNET........;Q :soap: :(....edit to add....90%, no box...600 absolute tops tenholewheels 03-06-2006, 19:13 cracking around the slide release hole but only in early models. the later ones colt removed the piece of metal above the hole. and yes i have a delta elite but i hardly ever shoot it, 10mm is too expensive for me to really shoot it like i would like to. paul45 03-06-2006, 19:37 Originally posted by tenholewheels cracking around the slide release hole but only in early models. the later ones colt removed the piece of metal above the hole. and yes i have a delta elite but i hardly ever shoot it, 10mm is too expensive for me to really shoot it like i would like to. Correct info....however way overblown. .45 1911s can and have cracked in the same area. I have 2 Deltas and a Colt Match Ten. The cracking hype is just that....its was no worse than other calibers developing stress cracks....:) vincent63 03-06-2006, 21:57 Originally posted by scottauld Gonna get it, Vincent? no scott,i dont have any desire for one, just saw one in a pawn shop for 800 and i was under the impression it was worth substantially more, like 1200-1300,,,if i had been right and it had been that much under-valued i would have picked it up and rolled it quick NetNinja 03-07-2006, 08:57 Contrary to unpopular belief some people would like you to believe that the Colt Delta Elite is this mythical sidearm that is so rare that it should command astrononical prices. As I said in my earlier post I own 2 of them. They were about 85% to 90% condition and of course like 99% of the guns I purchase they were used. I paid $500 for each of them. Sure it was 4 years latter when I bought my Blued one(Purchased in Nov 2005) but if you just keep opening your mouth saying to just about everyone that you desire a Colt Delta Elite somebody will offhandedly mention they have one for sale and would like to get rid of it. The Colt Delta Elite is not rare it is scarce. A lot of people believe that those pistols which heaven knows how many were made are going to shoot way into the stratosphere and we will never see the prices as low as they are now. Been seeing this same phenonmenon for 10 years now. There are some Delta Elite examples that are indeed rare like a Blued Delta Elite Enhanced which I desire greatly, which one came up new in the box on gunsamerica.com and sold for $1200.00. I don't know if you wanted to purchase the gun to be resold or bought as a collectors piece. As for me I shoot all my guns I don't buy them to collect, in my opinion they are like baseball cards so many are made now these days that to see any real value in them is the joy you get in collecting them. freepatriot 03-07-2006, 11:56 Originally posted by paul45 Correct info....however way overblown. .45 1911s can and have cracked in the same area. Well...I admit I am way prone to argueing, but doggone it...it gets tiring to hear the same old tired crap Mad Ryan 03-10-2006, 00:41 I see that some never got past the "I seem to remember the Delta Elites blowing up..." and didn't read the "Could be wrong tho..." part. I don't own one, but a buddy does, and has never had a problem with his. I'd just heard that some people had issues with this particular gun. I was mostly being sarcastic. I have a jacked up sense of humor. FYI, I actually really wanted one at one time, but like one other poster said, the ammo is wicked expensive and hard to find locally in any sort of quantity, so I stick to my 9mm. paul45 03-10-2006, 11:46 I have a jacked up sense of humor. ...OK! No problem...:) ...but IMO, it really wasnt very humorous. larry starling 03-10-2006, 22:39 Originally posted by paul45 ...OK! No problem...:) ...but IMO, it really wasnt very humorous. Chill out paul45.....Remember the net is full of colt haters.;g Shooting Alpha's 03-10-2006, 23:47 Originally posted by larry starling Chill out paul45.....Remember the net is full of colt haters.;g ~fnt~ spober 03-11-2006, 12:09 i probably paid a tad too much (850.oo bucks)for my non enhanced ,blued DE.but it was on consignment at local GS .it had recenly been bought ,so it coulnt have had too many rounds sent threw her.i prefere the non enhanced version.i just think a round top is more to the "true" to the 1911 design~! Gos 03-12-2006, 10:42 Never heard that one, but I'd guess it's similar to "Olympic Arms AR15 blow up, or at least I heard that some guy in the mill bought one that he traded to a truck driver who tossed it behind the seat of his cab for a couple of years, then couldn't get the bolt unfrozen from the frame and knocked it apart with a hammer and gun cleaning rod that got stuck 'cus the barrel must have had a bend in it..." Deltas seem to be good guns, and yes I've owned one. Sold it since the department does not supply ammo in 10mm. Gos. Originally posted by Mad Ryan I seem to remember the Delta Elites blowing up...
