I currently have novak low rise trijicons on my S&W 1911 however the front sight is a little dim and dingy. I used to have heinie's straigh eights on my kimber and really like them and may get them agazin but I wanted to see if ya'll had any other suggestions before I make a decision. Thanks

You just can't go wrong with the Heinies as long as you like the Straight Eight configuration. Heinies are my favorite 1911 sight.

I have the heinie slant 8's on my 1911sc. Love 'em... great sight picture. Next time I'll send the slide into heinie for installation those were a pain in the a** and I had a sight pusher.

I like the Heinie slant pro (I think that's what they're called). I also like Novak's and Millet sights. The Millets are really good if you don't want to cut the slide. They kinda look like old S&W revolver sights, but not adjustable.
I have the Heinie Slant Pro Straight 8's on my Springer. I like them.

Would I have to send the slide into heinie for the fitting? Or could I just drop them off at my local gun shop?

Heinies do make a S&W 1911 fit sight so you won't need any milling. They can be pressed on by any competent smith.
I don't know of any gunsmiths in Dallas but here's one I recommend.
Caylor Custom Guns. They are in Anna, TX which is about 40 miles NE of Dallas. He's a full service custom 1911 shop. Tell Mike Caylor "HT" sent you. He is currently working on my Springfield. It's getting a full workup.

I guess i'll be the first to post for something other than Heinies.
I use XS Big Dot N/S on both my Kimber UCII and Glock 32, and have no problem with target acquisition. They are along the same line as the Straight 8's too i think.
