Does HK's have a way to look up manufacture dates?

i was thinking that i could call HK and ask them to look up my manufacture date for my p2000sk. i called them this morning and the lady told me to give her my "letters" from th gun. i asked here if she meant the "AE" and she said yes....and that it was made in 2004.

thats all the info she said she had to give me. what is up with that? does that sound right to anyone who is familiar with HKs?

does anyone else have a p2000sk with an "AE 122-0011xx" serial number range? When did you purchase it? i just bought mine and the LGS picked it up at the SHOT show in Las Vegas this past Feb.

If anyone else can confirm if new HKs are made that long ago, how often HK does production runs, or if you have the same group serial# and purchased fairly recently..... please help me out. thanks.


PS - the gun is brand spanking new.

Etc...That's all that I know of,month doesn't mean much to me...others may have more info...HK date coding is the same on all their guns,I think...

AE date code indicates 2004 manufacture.

If the gun is NIB, you can always look at the date on the fired brass envelope.

so does HK continuously produce guns on a regular basis or do they do a large batch run and then have extended periods of non production?

i just thought it was weird that my new p2000sk i picked up 10 days ago was made back in 2004?


my g27 i picked up back in last december'05 was made 3 months prior, in september'05.... making it seem like the p2000sk has been around forever and the g27, the new model line.

yeah joe it was NIB, but my LGS usually throws out the fired casing.
