I'm going to replace my SA slide stop. Not because I need to, but because I want to.
I'm thinking Chip McCormick. I am also going to order 1 or 2 8 round Chip McCormick mags while I'm at it. Any opinions about either or both?

If you change, you may want to consider a really good quality one, Brown or Wilson best grade, or maybe another brand that is forged? One more better than factory type part on a gun never hurt. EGW may make one, too. I think that CMC slide stops are MIM (though that make not make one bit of difference, really). I like CMC mags. LOTS of people like CMC mags. Read the posts here and is normally CMC, Wilson, or Metalform as the favorite.

I thought I had read that the Chip McCormick is hardened tool steel. Anyone know for sure what they use?

They're not good ideas.

I read both links, and I am not sure which mags have the dimples and which don't. I didn't see anything in them about slide stops, so I assume you just meant mags without dimples are a bad idea? I had a Sig 245 that came with non-dimpled followers, would not get through a single mag. Sent it to Sig, they replaced the followers with dimpled ones and it seemed to work fine. I don't know how the dimple changed the reliability of anything but the last round, so they may have done more that I couldn't see.

Sorry, yes, I meant that non-dimpled followers are bad ideas for 1911s.
I don't know anything about Sigs, but the dimple was added to the follower of the 1911 magazine during the development with the U.S. Army, to change the way the last round feeds.
The first six rounds depend on the force of the mag spring, the last round feeds when the spring is at its lowest force.
I use Metalforms, but you have to specify the dimple when you order them.
I meant that both eight round 1911 mags and non-dimpled followers are bad ideas.
Just because a 1911 runs doesn't mean it's running right. The first clue can be a broken extractor, and a useless weapon.
I only have experience with 1911s, and don't know anything about Sigs.
I'd go with a Wilson Bullit proof and a couple of 47Ds. Just don't buy them directly from Wilson, they have higher prices than anyone else.

As for the slide stop, if it's not broke don't fix it. Why would you want to replace it if it's not broke?
If you decide to replace it anyway EGW is good, so is Brown. CMC parts are MIM and probably fine but not really a step up from what you already have.
