View Full Version : 85 combat question
On the CZ catalog, it says that the 85 combat doesn't have a safety stop on the hammer. Does that mean that when you manually decock, the hammer rests directly on the firing pin instead of on a half cock notch?
Yes, you would be lowering the hammer into a fully double action mode. I personally wouldn't carry it this way because of the safety issue of doing so. I doubt you could ever strike the hammer hard enough to ignite a primer, but I still wouldn't do it. The only time I might do it would be in competition if a DA first shot was required. The 85 triggers are known to be a little better because of not having those extra parts.

Just another question on the CZ 85, could you replace the slide stop with a non-ambidextrous one? What material is the safety lever made of? Thanks.
The safeties are probably alloy. I don't know anything about modifying the slide stop to single sided. I'm sure they come apart in some fashion or you wouldn't be able to take the slide off, but I don't know if they will function with only one side on. That would be a question for CZ-USA or a gunsmity aquainted with CZ's.

but with ambi-safeties, which is all I personally need, since I either slingshot the slide or use my trigger finger (i'm a southpaw)
Southpaw here too! CZ should make a compact 9mm with ambi safetys! :)
man you have no idea how much I agree. Compact, allow frame (aka PCR) with ambi manual safeties: I'd have one already.
