Anyone know why CZ doesn't make a DA/SA P-01 w/ a manual safety? My SP--01 is the best pistol I have every owned, I love everything about it, I would love to have a compact SP-01 (namely a P-01) w/ a manual safety so that both my range and my CCW pistols are exactly the same in terms of feel and control. The only major difference between the two would be the size and weight between alloy and steel.

Anyone else feel the same about a manual safety P-01 for Cocked and locked carry?

I'd say you don't see it because it was made for the Czech Police, and Police pretty much universally prefer a decocker over a manual safety. The SP01 Tactical is the Police chosen weapon, not the manual safety model.
I'd say just buy the 75 Compact, it's a steel frame with manual safety and the same size as a P01, it just doesn't have a light rail.

The thing I prefer about the P-01 and SP-01 pistols over all the other CZ-75 based pistols is the cut of the grip frame. Only the P-01, SP-01 and CZ-75 SA (Single Action) have the deeper frame cuts with the extended beavertail. This makes these pistols feel much better in the hand and also allows for a much higher grip, lower bore axis and less muzzle flip. Hold a regular CZ-75 model next to one of these 3 and it becomes readily apparent that there is a HUGE difference in feel between them. That is why I can't go with the RAMI, CZ PCR, CZ-75 compact or any others now that I own an SP-01.

On a side note, I had an SP-01 decocker for a few months while I was waiting for my manual safetly SP-01 and I really hated having a DA first shot from the draw. Also, CZ pistols are so easy to lower the hammer down on that I don't need a deocker, I can do it safely by myself everytime.

NO! manual safety IMO is a no no in self defense. One less thing to think about not having one. I rather have the decocker instead.

There's nothing wrong with a manual safety for self defense. As with any other manual of arms, you just have to practice until it becomes second nature. If you're not comfortable with it, fine, but lots of people do carry single-action guns.

It is all about personal preference as to which one you like best.
I was first worried about the de-cocker when I bought my P01 but quickly got used to it and haven't looked back since.
To me, the P01 had the better balance and feel that the compact due in part to the alloy frame.

i've said it once, i'll say it again: if CZ made a P01 in 9mm with a ambi-manual safety, I'd own one already:cool:
