ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 06:17 Now they must release it :P uncut 03-13-2006, 10:40 Hi Shipwreck Yea I think it is going to make it's way over here sooner or later On the bottom of the pics.. where the guncase is displayed... it's marked J&S (Jagd & Sport) meaning it is not coming out of the Defensive side of the H&K house.... I think somebody said that also on the H&K boards,,,, anyhow being that it is for civies over there I am sure it will get over here too ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 10:46 Well, in the mean time, I may buy a USp compact - because I like the cocked and locked feature. I'd get the P2000, but then it's like any other DA/SA gun. I like the way the safety is set up on my full size USP. Now, the P2000 is a very nice gun - Even though you can't safely carry it cocked, it's nice enough to get my interest IF it had a 4" barrel - that's why I wish this newer gun would come out by HK - I read somewhere that it is a bit bigger than the P2000. uncut 03-13-2006, 10:54 Yes it is bigger than the P2000..... that's why I think it originally was called P3000.... just look how much longer it is from the trigger guard to the front of slide .. compared to a P2000 ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 11:02 That's what I thought. I don't usually buy sub 4" barrel guns except for my 1 carry gun. But upon holding the compact USP on Sat, I liked it a lot. I kinda wish the grip on the full size USP was less blocky - kinda like the compact USP. The grip on the compact is more comfortable. But, right now, no other gun has caught my attention other than the compact USp and the P2000. I looked at a CZ, and I think those guns are butt ugly. I really don't need ANOTHER p99. I'm sick of 1911 headaches and I wanna stick w/ 9mm because it is cheaper. I had a Beretta 92FS for 8 or 9 years, and recently sold it. So, I don't want another Beretta. Don't want a Kahr. Only sig that kinda interests me right now is the Sig Pro. Not into revolvers. Thought about the Beretta Storm Carbine, but I am not a rifle lover, and would probably never shoot it. So, that leaves the Sig Pro, USP compact and P2000. IF I buy a sub 4" gun, the only thing attracting me is the cocked and locked feature of the USP. So, that wittles it down to the USP and the SIg Pro. Why can't HK release that P30 by May 1st? :P uncut 03-13-2006, 11:09 I wouldn't be surprised if this P30 won't make it here till Shot 2007 ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 11:25 Well, then it will be my NEXT, next gun. If I thought it would be here later this year, I would wait. But, I think U are right. DrPartagas 03-13-2006, 13:15 Hey Ship: You seem pretty saavy on the H&K. I've decided to buy H&K. Should I go USP or P2000? I'm a lefty. So, I'd get the Variant 1 lefty safety and decocker package with LEM trigger setup. Does this sound correct? I was unsure of DA/SA versus DAO choice. Need your thoughts. Also, is the 2000 a better choice than the USP? 9mm or 40? Thanks-Pete ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 13:45 The USP is a fullsize gun - I think the barrel is 4.5 inches. Now, the USP compact and the P2000 are comparible guns - they both have barrels approx 3.5 inches long (now, the P2000SK has a barrel approx 2.5 inches long). If you only want a DA/SA gun, then the P2000 might be the better way to go. It is a very nice gun. If you like the manual safety, and you like to carry the gun cocked, but with the safety on (kinda like a 1911), then the USP is the way to go (this is how I keep my full size USP). And, even if you don't wanna carry it cocked and locked, some people feel more comfortable with that manual safety. I like the grip on both. The grip on the USP compact is a bit longer than the P2000. But, I kinda like that extra length - more to grip on. As I said above - I already have my compact carry gun (Walther P99 compact). So, while I don't really need another compact gun - The USP compact interests me - It has a more comfortable grip than the full size USP, and I can still leave it cocked w/ the safety on without having to worry about it being too dangerous. Between the 2, I prefer the USP Compact. Now, both guns also come with their LEM trigger as well. Instead of DA/SA. it is a constant trigger pull. The trigger is very light, until the final breaking point - then it takes a little more force to fire it. If I was a LEO, I might lik ethis. But for a range gun, I don't see that this would help me with my target shooting. So, I will stick w/ standard DA/SA. And as for 9mm vs .40 - Heck, if you really want a super powerful round, U can buy +p 9mm ammo that is very powerful. I am happy with standard 9mm ammo, though. I think shot placement is the most important thing. And, 9mm is cheaper. I plan to not get anymore .45s. I have had them previously, and the ammo costs 2x time cost. I plan to stick with 9mm's from now on - cheaper at the range. redawg 03-13-2006, 17:43 DrPartagas, if you're a lefty you'll probably want a variant 2. They have the safety/decocker on the right side of the gun. Here's a link to read more about the USPc and the different variants: http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/index.jsp?loc=101&SITEID=A&PartNumber=704531 Shipwreck, I gotta agree with you about the USPc grip being more comfortable than the fullsize. I'm looking at the P2000 and the USPc, but haven't had a chance to handle a P2000 yet. This weekend I hope to remedy that at a gunshow. I really want to be able to manually cock the hammer, so the P2000 in DA/SA has this from the factory. I found out you can have a fullsize hammer installed on a USPc. So I guess I'll just have to decide which grip I prefer. Then there's the problem of my NEEDING a Sig 226ST, can't afford both. Ah decisions, decisions. ShipWreck 03-13-2006, 19:26 Yes, I forgot to tell him he needed Varient 2 - U can buy a variant 1, however, and then either send it back to HK or buy the safety part yourself and then find a gunsmith who can swop the part. I think U will have a hard time finding a variant 2 (a lefty model), however. U can also buy an ambi safety and have it put on, like a 1911. A full hammer on the USP compact would be nice. But, if you put it at 1/2 cock, there is enough sticking out to manually cock the gun. The decock on the P2000 is kinda strange (rear of the slide). I handled both the LEM and the DA/SA, and I preferred the DA/SA one. But there is no manual safety on it to allow cocked and locked. uncut 03-13-2006, 23:19 Ummmmmmm there was V2 on CDNN...USPc DAO 9mm left hand $500 ShipWreck 03-14-2006, 06:44 Originally posted by uncut Ummmmmmm there was V2 on CDNN...USPc DAO 9mm left hand $500 Ya know, I remember seeing that too. I have the USPc .45 V1 and the P2000 V3. If you want a DA/SA compact easy to conceal, the P2000 is the way to go IMO. The decocker is on the back of the frame next to the hammer on the left side which makes it easy for right or left handers. I myself own or have owned Sigs, Glocks, & HK's and prefer the HK's as they offer more options. I to never thought I would own any thing less than a 4" barrell until I shot my first HK which was the USPc .45. IMO these are the most accurate compacts I have ever shot of the 3 I mentioned above. I am in the process of getting another, just haven't decided on which one yet. Downwardspiral 07-14-2006, 15:03 I am having trouble getting the link to open up. I'm curious to see what it looks like. Thanks.
